I'll ask the dumb questions - How many degrees for Rudder & Elevator & is it flown with that trim left in or eased out back to neutral during the flight?

I tried a T/off using 1/4 throttle & made it to about 100' then it seemed to lose aileron authority & curled over to the left, then went straight down.

If you look at the trim wheel, turn the white line about 45 degrees forward/down.  Assuming COG OK.

Rudder... I can hold the airplane with full right rudder, but that may depend on the crosswind..

Last flight got it out about to 200' but as soon as I went to initiate a slight left turn it just again rolled left & corkscrewed down.

Right hand turns ok, but left hand turns, at the moment, induce a vicious left hand corkscrew spiral.

I'll work on it.

This is just an anecdote, but I had that exact behavior with the Carenado Seminole. It only happened if I had tinkered with the autopilot settings prior to taking off, even if I had autopilot off during climb out. If I waited to touch anything with the AP until I was in the air, it was fine. I'm note sure if it got fixed or not, been flying the Turbo Arrow for the last few months.

Also check your speed... climb out speed is about 100 kts.

I just had a play around with the payload amount and noticed when I get near 50%, the aircraft will roll left and be unrecoverable at takeoff. I also noticed that when payload is set to 50%, the aircraft is full of boxes. I would have expected it to be half full. When I lowered the payload to 25%, the aircraft was half full of boxes, and was fine at takeoff. I wonder if there is a problem with the cfg where 50% payload is actually being represented as 100%, and therefore overloaded!

Found the issue.

Somewhere along the line my Joystick R/A/E Sensitivity Dead Zones had been set at 14%.

I don't recall doing that, however, setting them per the Kodiak manual at 0%, [linear], did the trick. 

Can now depart & keep going.

I have a couple of questions if anyone can add to my understanding:

What is causing the yoke to auto-hide?

What is the setting to avoid structural damage? I'd like to fly the skydive version with the door open (up)?

Otherwise, I've crashed twice. Nice to have an aircraft that requires proper procedures...

OK so I found that my rudder had a dead zone! I reset to 0 and it seems solved my rudder authority problem!

Bert, I must admit this is very unusual and uncommon  ! When I lost one of my aircraft the lawyer that insurance hire for me was also represented hartzell. I've been told straight forward if there any problem with propeller suspected, he won't be able to help me due to conflict of interests. Nobdoy was that nice in real world to me LOL I must say SWS lucky to have their attention

Anyone know how to dim the Garmin displays for night flying, can’t seem to find a knob like the Caravan has.
