Overland 747 & Contact Points

Hi,All of my Overland 747's sink into the ground. I think this has something to do with the contact points? I have searched loads of forums and some people have said to use the following contact points in the aircraft.cfg. Hi Rich,It looks like you'll have to experiment with some trial and error. It's tedious but eventually you'll figure it out. Look in the SDK for the section on contact points which will tell you which entries to change.If you haven't already installed the SDK you'll find the installer in the SDK folder on Disk 1 of the installation disks.You're looking for the section called SimObject Creation Kit in which there is a link to the section about the aircraft config file.Follow this link and close to the top of the page are links for the different sections, and contact points is not far from the top.Good luck.Mike.

Sorry Rich, I forgot to mention that only the Deluxe version has the SDK. If you've got the Deluxe version you'll find it on Disk 1. But it sounds like you've got the Standard version.The entry you want to change is the 4th from the start of each line which is the vertical distance of the point from the defined reference datum (feet). Positive is up.Oh, and make a backup copy of your aircraft.cfg file before you go tinkering with it.I hope this helps.Mike.

I have had this problem too! After reading this post, I got some ideas, and I think I found the answer. I want to test it a little more before I post it, but so far it looks good!!! Will post no later than tomorrow one way or another.

OK I think I've got it!! Try this!1. Backup your Overland 744 aircraft.cfg file first!2. You can verify this by going into slew mode. You'll see the wheels are sunken into the ground. They need to be at or just above ground level. Also the compression ratios was too high. I've tested this all last night, made numerous landings and taxi around different airports, and she didn't bob once!

Hi,Thanks very much for posting this - my problem is now sorted....I actually e-mailed Dave Nunez (the guy who produced the guide for installing overland into fsx) and he e-mailed me a copy of a new document that had the stuff in it for the 747.I think he is stil working on it but will be released. He has asked me not to distribute it so I will obviously respect that!But when he relases this it also has other info for the a340-600, etc...Thanks,Richard.
