Loading FS9 flight plans into FSX

Recommended Posts

Seems like some work and some don't.Are the flight plan files from FS9 supposed to work in FSX?

Stuff from previous versions, whatever it is, is never supposed to work in newer versions. If it works, it works and if it doesn't, it doesn't. Apparently, since some plans work, they haven't changed much in the flight plan part. But apparently they DID change the database with navpoints and all, so some plans contain stuff FS X can't handle.

"Are the flight plan files from FS9 supposed to work in FSX?"NegativeFSX ships with the best flightplanner in cyberspace so why would want to go backwards?I don't fly my FSX Deluxe but do use it to create VFR flightplans through various mountain VFR routes using Gerhard Berendt's converter.I then fly them in the better flightsimulator: FS2004.Thanks to Gerhard for his FREE, neat little utility.[/font size] Avsim File Description:In contrast to FS9, it is possible in FSX to implement user-defined waypoints directly into a flightplan by dragging and dropping it into the map (this goal can evidently be achieved in FS9 only with the assistance of AddOn tools like e.g. FlightSimCommander). This program enables the user to convert a flightplan, created with the flightplanner in FSX, directly into the corresponding flightplan in FS9, thereby making it possible to implement user-defined waypoints also in FS9 flightplans without the help of AddOns.Filename:flightplanconvert.zipLicense:FreewareAdded:3rd March 2007Downloads:1572Author: Gerhard BerendtSize-70kb

I assume we are talking .PLN files - not saved flights.FS9 flightplans are straight text files.FSX flightplans are XML code files._____________________________________FS2004title=BGBW to EKVGdescription=BGBW, EKVGtype=IFRroutetype=1cruising_altitude=1000departure_id=BGBW, N61* 9.57', W45* 25.43', +000111.55departure_position=7destination_id=EKVG, N62* 3.82', W7* 16.63', +000278.87departure_name=Narsarsuaqdestination_name=Vagarwaypoint.0=BGBW, A, N61* 9.57', W45* 25.43', +000111.55,waypoint.1=DA, N, N65* 34.33', W37* 12.68', +000000.00,waypoint.2=BGKK, A, N65* 34.42', W37* 7.42', +000000.00,waypoint.3=RE, N, N65* 55.58', W22* 25.90', +000000.00,waypoint.4=OG, N, N66* 2.63', W22* 40.88', +000000.00,waypoint.5=IS, N, N66* 5.90', W23* 2.33', +000000.00,waypoint.6=BIIS, A, N66* 3.48', W23* 8.12', +000000.00,_____________________________________FSX<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>AceXML DocumentBGBW to EKVGVFR11500BGBWN61
