RDPresets Rotterdam problem

Recommended Posts

Did anyone buy RDPresets Rotterdam (EHRD) yet ? I have a weird effect on the entire airport only on the approach , so from a distance and from above. On the ground all looks fine. It's hard to describe, so two screenshots here (using P3D standard "Fogged In " weather preset). :

It's P3Dv5.3HF1. I have tried to clear the shaders folder, did not help. It's the only airport showing this problem.

Unfortunately no response from RDPresets support yet.

I am interested in this airport, but the screenshots seem to suggest a rather basic set of 3D buildings and textures. The ground markings look good, and God knows I would love to have another detailed airport to fly to in the gorgeous ORBx TrueEarth Netherlands scenery. However, I have not been convinced to pull the trigger yet. Well, that....and the fact that I need to wait for the P3Dv4 hotfix.

Sorry that I am not able to help you with your problem. Have you checked to make sure that there are no other versions of the airport active on your PC? Are you just using the surrounding scenery included with the product, or do you have ORBx TrueEarth Netherlands installed?

Just ORBX Open LC Europe, nothing else in that area, and also no other EHRD sceneries. Flytampa EHAM is the only airport in the vicinity, deactivating that has no influence.

What's beginning to worry me : No answer from their support Email, no support forum, not even any info who is behind RDPresets.

Since I voluntarily support anyone creating new addons for P3D, I was about to buy this but was put off by some comments on other websites that spoke of low quality textures and abysmal performance. I'm sorry you bought this. If you paid via PayPal you can still open a case to get back your money (no idea if this is sucessful in this case, but you can try).
Or you can wait a couple of days if they contact you and maybe it can get sorted out.

Bear in mind that we are still in the Christmas holidays. I do not return to work until January 4, so any contact with a developer during this time would be a bonus, not a requirement.

that's true, but when releasing a scenery at the 27th of December, they might have to expect some issues/support mails coming up.

What do you think of the overall quality of this airport? Are the building models and textures as basic as the screenshots seem to suggest?

The ground textures are quite good, but yes, the building textures are average at best.  Also I did not notice any added details in the harbour area or city. E.g. not even the famous Erasmus bridge has been modelled.

Overall it is certainly not a must-have.

I would only be concerned with the airport itself, as I would use ORBx TrueEarth Netherlands for the surrounding scenery.

Encouraging response from one of the developers.....

"We have listened to the feedback from the community and are currently working hard on fixing the things users have been complaining about when it comes to EHRD We will release a free update as soon as possible as we want everybody to be happy with our products."

This was on FSElite.

I mean this is not MSFS, where it's bare money when you release a specific airport before anyone else can, and where you can make up for people put off by bad quality due to the the simple amount of sales you get. This is P3D, where people that still use P3D most probably already have about 50 to 100 excellent airports to spend their money on and while willing to spend for new P3D stuff they will not accept subpar quality and lack of any decent 2021-effort.
It's great the devs already communicate and I won't rule out that I will buy it one day, but again, we are not talking about bugs or some rushed stuff, we are talking about low texture quality and missing details all over the place. This is already a very bad foundation, so I don't except them to miraculously spit out 4k-PBR-textures and the whole city of Rotterdam in a patch.
The remaining P3D crowd is rather demanding in regards to scenery and when you miss the first shot it's hard to regain trust these days. But as I said, I appreciate someone developing for P3D and communicating, so let's hope for the best.

That looks like a PBR ground texture issue.  I believe V4 had an issue like that in 4.4 in which PBR textures would be floating above the scenery similar to that.  4.5 fixed it if I remember correctly.

What i did if i was you.

I wish you are gsx owner.

Deactivate your scenery to come back to the origine default airport.

Restart p3d and park your plane there, check the scenery, light .... Go to gsx option where you can configure airport/ Gate to see what afcad gsx read, and look for this file in p3d folder.

Stop p3d, change the afcad .bgl to ori, réactive hd preset airport and check if this resolve your problem.

Yes, this is a good point. As I stated, I am only interested in the airport itself, but it needs better quality 3D building models and textures, and more clutter. I was looking at the airport in Google maps yesterday, and there are items like baggage trolleys/air stairs/pallets etc that need to be added to bring the airport to life. Releasing a basic FSX style airport like it is still 2008 is not acceptable. On the plus side, the ground markings look (from the screenshots) to be crisp and clear, so that's a good start.
