I had to redownload them. Now I’ve selected an external folder in Orbx Central (Orbx Library or something like that) and use Addonlinker. Very convenient.

I remember reading that if you didn't opt out of the beta that eventually MS/Asobo would choose a date and do it for you (and anyone else still active.). Given how MS/Asobo screw things up I quit the beta rather than give them the opportunity to "help" me.

Double check to make sure but I think your community folder is probably still there while the new install is proceeding. Try to copy it off. When I got the second install I got a new community folder and it left the old one intact.

I have fairly quick internet so its OK, however other than losing my community folder (again not such a big deal as I didn't have too much in there) I was wondering if I lost all my controller profiles as well? Setting up the bravo's autopilot is a bit of a pain, so just wondering if I have that to look forward to?

After the new install it had all my settings saved, so I didn't have to set up my controls again, not sure if it was saved in cloud data, but thankful for that 🙂

Just about done with the 2nd reinstall. Ist time put the Official and Community folders in the Root game directory for some reason. While everything still worked, I just didn't trust things that way. Only 2 more WU's to go in the Content Manager and what few things I put directly into Community to go. Most all of my addons are in a folder on another SSD and get used via MSFS Addons Linker.

Thank God for gigabit internet.

have same connection but was getting between 3mbps and 20mbps down the whole time from MS servers 😞

sd_flyer.  Use AddOn Linker.  Your actual addons can be stored in a safe directory of your choosing.  AddOn Linker will create a "virtual" link in the Community folder, that points to your addons.

If you use AddOn Linker, you should never lose your addons because they are stored in a safe directory that you have chosen.  And the best part of AddOn linker is, when you update MSFS, you can deactivate all the "virtual links" so that MSFS is updated with an empty Community folder.  At the same time, you can disable whatever addons you don't want to use, thus speeding up the load time of MSFS.

Must be the time of day for me. On the larger files I was getting as much as 250/MBs so can't complain

That certainly played a part: overnight was 3mbps and daytime was 20mbps. What time were you seeing this and which server(s) ?

6 - 8 am PST. Not sure which server other that if I turn on Online in MSFS it defaults to Eastern USA.

It happened to me as well today after leaving the Beta, launching MSFS, updating via the Store, re-launching and it asked for the 100+ GB download because by default the installer pointed to the default installation folder although I have my packages (official, community...) set to another SSD.

I figure out my mistake after it has started downloading 50% (hopefully, here in France I have 5Gb/s Internet download bandwith)... then I killed the download installer, re-launch it and point it to my extra SSD package and it starts immediately.

Package folder away from the default installation folder (as warn when joining the Beta) + Addons-Linkers which allows all community data to be on a third NVMe 😉

Move your packages folder to a new location, then after leaving the beta, and when starting up the sim, point to the new folder location.

Presto, update moves on with no issues.

I just got a chance to test, all seems well with settings etc, re-downloaded all the community folder bits again. Not a big deal as I didn't have mountains of stuff in there.

My only issue is now it looks like the live weather is not playing ball with me at the moment. Tried a few restarts and turning from live weather to pre-set a few times as well. No joy. Anyone else experiencing live weather issues?

 

Same thing happened to me. First time ever. Pretty annoying having to reinstall everything, but on the upside, performance is pretty good. Guess I'll just download stuff before doing the flight in the area addons are missing. Pretty unfortunate, but all I can do at this point is laugh. Easiest way to stay sane lol.
