MSFS 2020: Better Desktop Icons

Recommended Posts

Just a quick fix for anyone who, like me, thinks the default desktop icon is so low-effort as to be almost deliberately fugly.

is there a way to indicate that I have pressed MSFS icon and it is loading, something like a splash screen?

when I start it, I wait for a while before I see any sign of live.

I can tell if it is loading because I have the Steam version, and the Steam Client will change from showing 'start' to 'stop'.

I use MSFS for flying and don’t give a ….. about what icon it uses to be loaded from.

Or any other program. Imho it is the app itself what is important .

Thanks .. I have the quick start (no splash screens) startup shortcut that needs a proper icon. These should do the trick !

how to download the icon? thanks

Click on the link, and if you are not already a member of the site follow the instructions. Lots of other cool icons are there and I've used it often over the years 4 various games and even the occasional useful desktop icons

Hover your mouse over the default Icon after clicking it, if you see a spinning circle it is loading just like every other windows program....

If you start the sim from within AddonsLinker, a pop-up confirms you have started the sim. Gives you the reassurance that your mouse click was actually accepted by your PC.
