Saving controls

Recommended Posts

I have a yoke / pedals / and throttle setup. Does this mean when I am saving controls in the p3d controls menu I have to save separately for each of these or is it all contained in one file? Seems it often isn't fully saving the changes I make.

Thanks!

All assignments are stored in your standard.xml file at C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5\Controls. Replace <username> with the correct path name.

It should save everything into the one file. I am using 3 devices and don’t have any issues.

Okay yes thanks for this...what I'm wondering is if I set up all three components in the p3d menu and do all the assignments the way I'd like--do I simply hit "export" and save this as a single file, or do I need to set my assignments for the pedals, export separate file for pedals, throttles, yoke?

I export my controls to my desktop. If they somehow get messed up I just load up and import the file. Back in business.

It looks as there is a bit of confusion here....

Standard.xml saves the default flight and settings, if you delete it , iP3D will create a new one.

In the Options controls when you setup your controls to your liking and then you export them, they are saved as a file of your naming ( say date  and aircraft ) I have a set for fixed wing and one for helos. that file is saved in xxx...documents\Prepar3d v5 Files as xxx(your choice).xml

when you start a flight you can then go to controls and import the file that you created for that particular aircraft... if anything goes wrong you import that file again and done......Purr is doing this as you see...

I also follow Jorge's approach above in exporting the controls based on the aircraft type I am flying  e.g. 4 engine jet or 2-prop plane. I always save a copy of those exported control files before I uninstall P3D and then i use the import function once P3D is installed again in the case of an update.
