In Prepar3d v5.3 HF2 the waves have disappeared?

Recommended Posts

After upgrading from P3D v5.3 HF1+ to HF2 (client only), waves no longer appear on the coastline. Has anyone observed it?

Waves are an effect, so it is affected by the setting in Options>general>world>Special effects....

Yes. I have to the maximum the effects and the distance. I have not changed the configuration, I have only updated the client to HF2.

I’ve got too many waves, trying to remember how to disable just the waves with the effects, think it’s an FX file I need to clear?

Sounds like something changed your effects file … if I remember what the FX file name is I’ll report back.

All in the effects folder of P3D.
wavecontroller.fx / lakewavecontroller.fx / ORBX_wavecontroller.fx / ORBX_lakewavecontroller.fx / fx_HS_FSX_lakewavecontroller.fx / fx_HS_FSX_lakewaves.fx / fx_HS_FSX_oceanwaves.fx / ORBX_lakewaves.fx / ORBX_waves.fx / fx_HS_FSX_oceanwavecontroller.fx / Cntrl_Orbx_oceansurf.fx

I want to say that vanilla p3dv5.3 doesn’t have the waves anymore. I think beau at LM said they were removed over on the LM forum.  Orbx global installs them back in. Regardless, I’m with Rob. Too many waves on the coastlines and I need to remove them.

For long time i use water details set for none and wave effect permanently removed as one of most hideous one. That gives most realistic result

I have water textures disabled in P3Dv4.5. I prefer the glass look to low resolution static wave textures that look like sand banks.

What are the wind conditions?  To my knowledge, waves don't appear if the surface wind is zero.

I can confirm that they do appear at times in P3Dv4.5, even when the wind speed is zero. However, I have disabled all of them now.

At this moment, I have no waves at Ushuaia SAWH. I thought I may have lost waves but the Webcam Ushuaia shows, all is fine. I had big waves a few days before. 5.3HF2
