Coming back here again for suggestions.

My main use case is playing MSFS 2020 and make youtube videos. MSFS is the first ever video game I have played. Not planning on playing any other shooter games and such.

I will be getting a Intel I9, 64G ram with 3080 ti.

Wondering ASUS ROG Swift PG348Q 34 is a good choice for monitor.

From what little I know.

IPS - good

34 - about what my desk can handle

G-sync - a good thing. Wondering if this is relevant given this has a 100Hz refresh?

5ms response time - Is this good? bad? average?

3440x1440 - Is this a 4K monitor? if not, what resolution defines a monitor to be 4K?

if this not 4K do you have recommendation for a 4K monitor? Yes, I am posting this question again. Would like to get as much info as possible before I spend some serious change…

thank you all

A 34-inch ultrawide with an IPS display and hardware G-Sync (not G-Sync "compatible") is a very good monitor for flight simming.  I don't know about that particular model, but I have a Dell ultrawide on one of my simming PCs that's similar, and it's very good for flight simming.

3440x1440 is not "4K"--4K is 3840 x 2160 resolution.  My primary flight sim dusplay is a 55-inch 4K TV, and what makes it such a great solution isn't that it's 4K, it's that it's HUGE and it's 4K.  You really need to get to above 40 inch diagonal screen size before 4K is justified, IMHO.

G-Sync is desirable with flight sims no matter what the screen's best refresh rate is--none of the sims can produce anywhere near 100fps with anything meaningful running on them in terms of add-on acft/scenery, traffic etc.  A good variable-refresh rate monitor can keep the stutters away when the frame rate fluctuates...and true G-Sync is the better solution when frame rates drop below the display panel's native refresh rate range (usually below 30 Hz).

5ms response isn't super-fast, but it's not really necessary to have faster than that with a flight sim.  Displays with fast (e.g. 2-3 ms) response times are needed for competitive real-time online play, especially with shooters.

Thanks. I am aware of this.
I am (I think) looking for

wide

no more than 38. But a minimum of 34

g sync

high refresh rate

good response time

IPS

There are not many options with all this and 4K. I think dell has a 40 inch one. But that is 2500$.

appreciate your help.
thank you

I have the 38" AW3821DW from your list. Use it for work and games. I find it a great monitor. IPS with Gsync ultimate. It does go up to 144Hz but that's 8bit colour. For 10bit colour it's 120Hz max which is fine for me. The only thing I don't think it does well is HDR but I don't use that so not an issue for me. blockquote widget
