February 14, 20224 yr I thought someone had said that G mode didn't work after the latest world update? I guess perhaps it does, will give it a try.

It didn't, but the author released an update that fixed it. All work, including G and New B, which looks better (and more recent) then the in-game B.

OP is referring to this mod on flightsim.to that replaces the default Microsoft Bing satellite imagery with the choice of either G**gle, newer Bing imagery or Mapbox. I guess some people are afraid of running afoul of G**gle so they don't mention them explicitly, but rather with a generic 'G'.

I haven't tried the 'B' inside the app, but with your comment, I might just give that try as well!, to see any difference in mapping between native B and injection app 'B'! 🙂

Yeah, some of us know about that mod...but even so....I am also still confused by this thread. What's wrong with saying "Bing" and "Google"? I don't get it? February 15, 20224 yr @Mace@Bdub22 You chaps don't remember what happened to Tile Proxy do you? Such usage of G's mapping API being within the scope of its terms was somewhat questionnable and when the Big G found out they killed it. And Avsim takes issue with overt discussion of things outwith EULAs (famously how you could bodge PMDG's FSX products in early versions of P3D). ckyliu, proud supporter of ViaIntercity.com. i5 12400F, 32GB, RTX4070, more in "About me" on my profile.

But also know that I would not let photoscenery touch my sim until this latest incarnation of the technology...so I never had the pleasure of dealing with TileProxy or its issues. February 16, 20224 yr Joking aside, I'd like to thank Mike for this thread. I tried the Google mod when it was first released and didn't like it. Too heavy on resources, bad UI and tricky implementation. I gave it another chance after reading this thread and was amazed by the latest version. Easy, efficient and absolutely safe. With a single click you can switch from a map server to another, even on the fly when you are flying, as long as you don't use the rolling cache. As said in the previous comments, you can choose the latest Bing's map or Google or few other servers, depending on the region you want to visit and the quality of the satellite imagery provided. Being not intrusive at all, you can revert to the default Bing map whenever you wish. Google map is much more colorful in some regions and very often more detailed than Bing, which is great for VFR flying. So, again, thank you Mike, aka Mr "S"! I, sometimes like to tease you... but your insights are often very valuable!🍻 - PC Hardware: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D // Asus ROG Crosshair X870E HERO // 2x32Gb Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 // ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition // 4Tb Corsair NVMe M.2 MP600 // Corsair 1600W PSU Samsung Odyssey Arc 55" curved 165 Hz monitor. - Simulator Hardware: VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime + VIRPIL VPC Universal Control Panel - #3 + MOZA AY210 Force Feedback Yoke + WINWING URSA MINOR 32 Throttle & PAC Metal + WINWING SKYWALKER Metal Rudder Pedals + WINWING Airbus FCU & EFIS + WINWING Boeing 3N PAP + WINWING MCDU-32 + WINWING PFP-4 + WINWING PFP 3-N + WINWING PFP-7.
