Promise on last question before I purchase. Is there any need to install the Trainer if the trainer is already installed for other Sim versions? Thx.

Good question. It does detect what trainer (or trainers) you have installed. If you have a current trainer it will use that one. That was my experience during the install and I was a bit surprised as I was fully expecting it to tell me to uninstall current trainer and install the one of their choice.

If you're wondering what to do with your GTN 650 in the Arrow....  I set up different variables that might pertain to my flight....  Fuel Flow is nice to have and OAT...

The Garmin Trainer is still required but is it still free?

... and also nearest airports, upcoming navaids and frequencies, traffic, an alternative flight plan, etc, and maybe music or a ball game over a local radio station. Oh, no, wait, forget the radio station. That would require one of those weird old-time analog tunable ADF radios!  😉

Yes.  In fact, you can go online and download a variety of different stand alone Garmin trainers to explore and practice with  -- all free.

Think that would answer my question. Thx.

It does "recommend" the newest GTN Trainer, which may not be compatible with any P3D or XPlane version you currently have.

So choose wisely..

I believe the GTN Xi trainer is slightly different - I didn't notice any issues since I still use RXP GTN in XP11.

Is there a way to disable the approach chart overlay on the map? I prefer to keep a nice clean map, and reference my charts with the Navigraph in game panel.

Yeah I think it's MENU and then charts.  (When you're on the map screen)

Not a problem. The trainer I had was for RXP GTN for P3D v5. That probably won’t be an issue.

The G1000 MFD replacement option does not work with the WT G1000NXi, but as you can see in the above, this may not be the preferred way to go anyway.  For me personally, I use the TDS unit in the Turbo Arrow, the WT G1000NXi in the G36 Bonanza and the Kodiak, and PMS50 GTN in my Carenado Seminole/Mooney/C337.  This all works seamlessly together.

How are you getting the TDS to work in the VC of the Turbo Arrow?  I just updated my Turbo Arrow to the latest version and still no-go.  I have the same old choices in my tablet and that is WITH the TDS app running in the background.
