About that, is possible to activate the autothrottle, autopilot and manipulate the FCU "HDG, SPEED, etc..." without aligning the INS?

Anyway to do it during flight?

I recall an episode on Why airplanes crash on that subject. An Indonesian airline lost their INS alignment during flight and caused much confusion but yes there is away. You cant use NAV and it depends on aircraft type. The one I was referring to was B737.

Yes, I remember a bit this episode, I will watch it again

I didn't turn out well! Simply because of Cockpit awareness. Or lack of trying to resolve problem instead of Aviating!

I am half way building my home cockpit with the FBW32NX, with custom commands, so switching would include a lot of work.... Maybe later, if the FENIX is really really so much better than the FBW. But for now we don't know of any of the soon to be release have the quality they promise.....

So none of the above for now for me.... Glad that we are going to have choices soon....

Most of what is said on the Internet may be the same thing they shovel on the regular basis at the local barn.

I already paid for the NG3 so that's the one I'm getting.

But I'm sure the FENIX will still be available in few months.

I'm already enjoying the FBW so I'll probably buy the Maddog next.

Intel Core i9-10900K at 5.2GHz, Corsair H115i PRO, ASUS MAXIMUS XII HERO Z490, G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 15-16-16-36, ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3090, SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2 2280 1TB x 3, Corsair HX Series HX1000 Watt PSU, Pimax Crystal LIght.

PMDG for sure.  Then the Fenix as soon as I had more money.  The A32NX is good enough to hold me over until then, so the PMDG would be something fresh for a while.

AMD Ryzen 9950X3D | Asrock X870E Taichi | Gigabyte Gaming OC 4090 w/EK waterblock | Full Custom Loop Cooling | Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5-6000 | Samsung & WD NVME/SSDs | Phanteks Enthoo 719 | Seasonic Vertex Gold 1200W | Keychron Q5 Max | Corsiar Scimitar Elite SE Wireless | Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo | Logitech Pro Flight Pedals | VKB Gladiator Pro NXT L&R handed | MiniCockpit MiniFCU | Alienware AW34DWF | Asus PG279Q | Win 11 Pro

Maddog without any question. A320 the fbw one is good enough and will evolve. 737 if its not a thunderpig (-200) me ain't interested and will wait for pmdgs Queen.

Cheers T.

I'll probably get all three, wealth of riches for us all...

Autopilot will not work without IRS alignment. On the 737, captains AP uses onside IRS pitch data and offside IRS roll data, and vice versa. This for avoiding an autopilot upset due to erroneous data from a single IRS.

Full alignment in flight is not possible. Acft needs to be stationary. Degraded ATT mode can align in flight which restores the articifial horizon but heading orientation is lost and needs to be provided by the crew.

Ontopic: my Airbus feelings are lukewarm at best, and I own the FSL for P3D for any sudden airbus cravings.

But will def. purchase the maddog and 737NG.

Fenix A320 for me. FBW A32NX covers my needs for the NEO, but my VA also operates the CEO variant.

First I need a new computer, then I need MSFS. Once that’s done I’ll go in this order.

1. PMDG 737 - just because that’s what I’ve flown mainly since my FS9 and FSX days and don’t need to relearn it.

2. Maddog - always wanted it for FSX but was always scared to buy since I’d heard it was harder on FPS, but if reports point to good FPS, I’ll get it second.

3. Fenix- last just because I’m not really into Airbus and have never owned an Airbus for any sim. It will be one of those purchases when I’m kind of tired of what I already have and want to try something new.

I have been simming since 2004 and the PMDG 737NG was the first complex add-on I used in FS9 (then the LDS 767 came along and broke new ground, for those that were around and remember! Before the PMDG 747 came along and did it again). PMDG always, always do a good job and I won't hesitate to buy it again. However, I must admit I'm looking most forward to the Fenix aircraft as it appears to be breaking new ground if it lives up to the hype, and unlike in 2004 Airbus has now become so popular worldwide I actually find that the A320 is actually a more versatile aircraft to fly in terms of availability of real-world airlines and routes (especially in Europe). Unfortunately the FBW A32X systems are just not mature enough for me right now and I find it too frustrating to use it so waiting for the Fenix.

For those that say they aren't that interested in Airbus, only Boeing etc. - I kind of started the same journey but trust me as the years go by you will and should want to learn more aircraft. It makes it so much more enjoyable to be able to use a range of aircraft and compare/contrast the different systems of the different planes. I would try and get as many of these 'study level' add-ons as you can possibly justify spending your money on.

I agree, why limit ourselves. Plenty of time to set aside some funds for all three. Also many of us will have the NGXu discount.

Yes agree with the discount side! I always wondered if that's why PMDG are releasing the 737-700 first, In the knowledge that a lot of customers with the NGXU discount would not be able to wait for the discounted 737-800 but would buy the full price 737-700 regardless? I believe if the 738 was released first, the discount would then apply, and not so much interest at a later stage for the other variants when they are released. A good sales strategy!
