Anyone know what GAIST_MSFS_V1_CVT Is?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know what file or package GAIST_MSFS_V1_CVT Is? I am getting this coming up as showing uninstalled in my content manager and was wondering what it pertains to and if I need it.

That's the Global AI Ships mod by Henrik Nielsen.

I left it in when I did the upgrade, and now it shows as uninstalled in the content manager, but it's active in the Content.xml.

I would leave it if you want ship traffic moving around. There should be an upgrade in a couple weeks with new high detail models and lighting and wake effects.

Thanks, Dobee51. I was a little confused as I couldn't find anything missing from my sim. Even though it says it is uninstalled, it is like yours actually active. I will leave it as I like having the ships there.

The sim itself creates CVT folders.  If a mod or it's textures aren't in 100% native MSFS 20 format the sim will convert the conflicting files,  whenever possible.   Then it places the converted files in the "CVT" folder,  and hot links it to the original mod.   If you delete it,  the sim will re-create it.

EDIT:

I forgot to say that the latest version of Henrick's shipping mod is 100% MSFS native format.   It should no longer cause the sim to generate a CVT folder.   The newest version does not generate one on my system.  Try deleting your CVT.  If you have the latest version of his mod the sim won't need to re-create it.   If it does re-create it,  you probably don't have the latest version of his mod.    The 100% native version should offer better performance in the sim,  and I recommend updating if so.

On the other hand,  if you're bandwidth limited you might want to wait a few days.   Henrick stated a few days ago that he's ready to drop an update very soon.

EDIT:  Just realized that you definitely have version 1 of his mod.  Don't know how I missed that.  GAIST_MSFS_V1_CVT

Man,  you're missing a lot of new ships too.  I don't recall exactly,  but I think V2 added around 750+ ships. It has better lighting affects,  and I think a few of the ships got smoke stack smoke too.   The next version will likely include his new wakes.

You will get CVT files when there are non-native MSFS models. AIG also creates a CVT file  ("aig-aitraffic-oci-beta_CVT_") as it uses many non native models.
