Report Cessna 414AW Chancellor issues

I can climb and descend without touching ALT using the autopilot.  Starting in ROL/PIT, I select VS, the display changes to ROL/VS and the FPM, and I can climb or descend by dialling in the FPM,

If I then select HDG it displays HDG/VS and the FPM.  I can still climb or descend by adjusting the FPM.

My comments above to jfwharton regarding the use of ALT were just for the version of the C414 with the GNS530 GPS. That autopilot is completely different than the Garmin 605 that is in the other versions of the plane.

Thx for the reply, but i do not do anything that has "auto" involved, except for the autopilot and it would not change the fact, that the rudder authority is not sufficient for the 18-20 kts x-wind this aircraft can handle.

If the flight_model.cfg file under [FLIGHT_TUNING]  there is an entry rudder_effectiveness =1.  If you want to experiment a bit you can try increasing this value,  e.g., to 1.25, 1.5, etc.  You may have to restart the sim, or at least reload the plane, for a change to take effect.

The phasing knob is not modeled.  As far as what you are reporting about the props sounding more out of phase with prop sync ON, a possible explanation is that the prop sounds are slightly out of phase by default.  i.e. When you are tweaking the RPMs manually you have synced the sounds but, the RPMs are not actually matched.  This was something that had to be done with FSX/P3D legacy sound packs to prevent weird artifacts resulting from having multiple instances of the same sound effect playing at once.  This trick theoretically should not be needed with Wwise sound packs but, as we know, many devs are still figuring out the new sound system in MSFS.

OK, thanks very much for your reply and explanation.  The phasing knob function not being modelled for MSFS reasons is understandable.  At least it's not a bug with the C414.

I didn't actually mean that the props sound MORE out of phase with prop sync on, just that I couldn't adjust it with the phasing knob when prop sync was on.

I have since found that I can improve the out of phase sound to some extent with more careful tweaking of the props before switching prop sync on.

Ah, my apologies for not understanding that.  I probably should have realised, given that the discussion was about the 530.  Thanks for clarifying.

With the GNS530, you cannot enter a flight plan. When entering waypoints for example origin airport, when scrolling through the letters, the field become blank randomly making it impossible to enter a full airport code. This started happening with one of the last updates. The map also freezes after a few minutes,

I tried deleting the GNS530 mod and still same issue. The mod works fine in other aircraft.

EDIT: Problem was due to SU9 Beta. Issue resolved.

Anyone else seeing this problem? I just tried entering a flight plan in the GNS530 and could not reproduce the problem, and to date I have not seen any other reports like the above. But if the problem is random maybe I was just lucky this time. I don't have any GNS mods. My understanding is the GNS 530 in the C414 is the standard Asobo GPS unit.

I just saw an update to the mod for SU9 beta. Going to try now.

I just tried manually entering a flight plan in the GNS 530 and didn't have any issues.

It was SU9 beta causing it. Disregard.

Hope someone has reported that issue back to Asobo unless it was the mod itself causing the problem.

But what about the wobbly spinners eh?

I keep thinking they're gonna come off.

v 1.4.3 Hotfix:

1. Regression: GT750Nxi does not shut down when avionics bus switch is off, nor does it shut down when the aircraft is completely powered down.

2. Regression: Magnetos shutoff bar doesn't animate backward (to shut off mags).

3. Old bug I think, but the EFB doesn't seem to charge. Often, after a long flight, it has a dead battery when I try to display it. Doesn't seem to be a way to power it back up when it gets in that state.

1. Can't reproduce this bug. The avionics switch kills the GPS in all three versions of the plane for me.

2. Correct. Strange bug. The magneto bar does not work in the GNT750Xi version of the plane, it does work in the other two versions for me. Being fixed.

3. Correct: You should (an previously could) be able to change the tablet's battery by clicking in the upper left corner of the tablet's frame. Being fixed.

Apparently there was an old/new model mixup when FSW was generating the 1.4.3 update -- it's being fixed literally as I type! Should all be good in the next update.

Thx,

Al

It seems logical and intuitive to me to expect the frequency tuning knobs on the right GTN750 to adjust the COM and NAV frequencies on that GTN750.  But the tuning knobs on the right GTN750 only adjust the COM and NAV frequencies on the left GTN750.  The COM and NAV frequencies on the right GTN750 can only be adjusted with the push button page.

Hmm... I cannot reproduce this problem with the PMS GTN750s. Are you sure you have the latest update, ver 1.4.3 Hotfix?

That was with 1.4.2_Hotfix (didn't realise 1.4.3 was out).  Now working correctly with 1.4.3_Hotfix 🙂
