Report Cessna 414AW Chancellor issues

Recommended Posts

1.6.2 beta when starting a flight in parking and starting up the aircraft the fuel computer works correctly for both the GNS and PMS50 versions.  However, if you start a flight on a runway the engines are already running and the fuel computer shows 00.0 gal/rem.  If you then click on the lower left button on the fuel computer that readout changes to 0-.0 gal/rem.  So the fuel computer doesn't appear to be working when a flight is started on a runway.

Have you tried resetting the fuel computer by switching the battery off and on?  (I'm not sure if the alternators need to go off as well or not.)

(I would try it myself but I haven't got Beta 1.6.2_Hotfix yet - getting invalid download so waiting for a one-time mirror link.)

I tried turning the battery off, waited and then back on and nothing changed.  I'll try turning off the alternators but this shouldn't be happening.

I started another flight with the PMS50 GTN model.  Loaded a saved flight plan, set my fuel to 80% and clicked fly.  This put me on one of the runways at KDEN.  Again the fuel computer showed 00.0 gal/rem.  Clicking on the lower left button on the fuel computer changed the top value to 0-.0 gal/rem.  I then shut down the aircraft and turned everything off.  I started engines again and the fuel computer still showed the same issue.

I loaded a flight, set 80% fuel and switched on the battery.  The fuel computer showed the red GAL REM legend (which is correct) but the LEDs which should show the usable fuel remaining from the previous flight in the top section were not lit (not correct).

If the amount remaining in the top section was sufficient for the flight, pressing ENTER would set the computer for that amount.  But (as above) the amount was not displayed.

I switched off the battery (engines off) and tried again several times.  Each time I saw the same, i.e. nothing showing in the top section.

Then I switched off and tried again and saw the same as you did, i.e. with 00.0 showing in the top section this time.   So it's not working right and it's not consistent either. (Beta 1.6.2_Hotfix and PMS50 GTN750)

When I reported on the fuel computer on 13 April it was showing gallons remaining correctly when switching on, albeit with the decimal point in the wrong place, so something has changed since then.  I guess they're still working on it.  EDIT: I just realised the 1.6.0 changelog said it was finished.

Suggestion - It would be good to be able to mute the engine noise (not completely) by simulating putting on a headset.

I recall another developer doing this by modelling plugging in of a headset jack/lead to achieve this.  I can't see where this would plug in on the C414 but I assume it must go somewhere.

I just found where the headphone jack plugs in. Hint 😉 :

Just to add:  That was starting cold and dark at a parking spot at KPDT.

Aircraft: Cessna 414AW Chancellor Beta 1.6.2

PMS50 GTN 750 FREE VERSION APPR Issue: I can confirm the PMS50 GTN 750 FREE VERSION does not capture the LOC and GS.

1. FP = KPOV LMCTG KYNG

2. Tune VOR1 to 110.1 (RWY 14 ILS)

3. Fly at 3000 ft to LMCTG then 2900 approaching LMCTG

4. Click HDG and fly 98 (or so) to LMCTG

5. Set VOR1 to 143 (On GTN click CDI where VLOC is displayed)

6. Click APPR Will not capture ILS or GS.

NOTE: Using the same flight plan and procedure, the SWS RV-14A captures both the LOC and GS perfectly using the PMS50 GTN 750 free version.

Version 1.6.2 beta.  I just tried your flight plan and was able to fly the approach in the PMS50 version.  Granted I am using the payware version of the PMS50 GTN 750.  Initially I had an issue capturing the localizer due to the sharp intercept angle in the flight plan.  The aircraft turned to intercept but ended up flying through the localizer and had trouble reacquiring.  I switched to HDG and set up the intercept and then switched back to VLOC and the aircraft flew the approach.

Thanks for reporting back. I had no problem with the SWS RV-14A using the same freeware PMS50 GTN 750.

There is a new XML file on their Discord channel I'm going to try out...and see if that helps the 414.

I just flew your flight plan in the with the FREE PMS50 GTN750 and it captured the LOC and GS correctly (Beta 1.6.2_Hotfix).

It's been capturing correctly for me at other airports too, including steeper glideslopes (4.4 and 5.5 degrees) but still with a tendency to drop below glideslope closer to the runway sometimes.

I'd sure like to find out the difference between your setup and mine...

I currently have:

1. PMS50 GTN 750 version 2.1.29

2. I have the WT G1000 NXI installed and updated (version 0.11.0)

3. I use the zWTnxi-0.11.0-sync-fix from PMS50 and is activated via the MSFS Addons Linker.

I cannot think of anything else to include...

Would you be able to provide your details?

Wow, it's like the version number for the PMS50 GTN changes daily.  I just updated to 2.1.28 and not 2.1.29 is out.  I'll install that and do the ILS again.
