Japan: Welcome to Tokyo–Rivers, Bridges and Roads

Japan: Welcome to Tokyo – Rivers, Bridges and Roads

Join us on Wed. March 23 for a trip in Tokyo.

Tokyo is the capital and largest city of Japan. The Tokyo-Yokohama metropolitan area is the most populous in the world with an estimated 37.339 million residents in 2021. Located at the head of Tokyo Bay, the "Tokyo" prefecture or district forms part of the Kanto region on the central Pacific coast of Japan's main island of Honshu.

Tokyo is the political and economic center of the country, as well as the seat of the Emperor of Japan and the national government. Stay tuned as we travel in an intricate route weaving and exploring through this city and some of its adjoining areas.

The Route: ICAO: RJTT-RJTF-RJTY-RJTA-RJGO-RJSZ-RJNS. The distance between all of these the airports is a mere 118 nm as the crow flies, however, we are not crows! We are weaving through the city and terrain in an effort to explore the area and surroundings which will add another 100 nautical miles to this excursion.

Aircraft:

The full length of this trip is 218 nm (250 miles) with six landings in total. The first part this trip requires low and slow speed: to be able to negotiate the many twists and turns in the core areas of Tokyo: traveling at building top heights (or lower down at river level if you dare!) and following some of the road network - so a slow and agile craft is required that can travel at speeds between 90-135 ish mph and that has good maneuverability: IE:  C140, C152, C170, C172, L19 Bird Dog, CTSL, DV20, DA40, PC-6, Pipistrel, Robin, Zenith CH701, Got Gravels: Carbon, Grravel, Zlin Savage Cub. XCub, NX Cub etc. (Planning to use the GotGravel Savage Carbon or NX Monster Cub but as always please feel free to use an aircraft of your choosing.

There is two downloads for this excursion:

  • 1.   Flight Plan and itinerary download which includes the fp, history/background, flight narrative      >> HERE
  • 2.   Add-on scenery package download which includes all of the add-on scenery (in one package*) >> HERE

In FS 2020, the Twilight encompasses the landscape very well.
