Also - and this is purely my own reservation - I don't share the same trust in SimMarket as I do with PMDG, FlightBeam, Aerosoft etc... I don't know - maybe I'm being idiotic...

Anyway... that's my 2 cents.

It isn't even really about trust, but security concerns.  Simmarket has been around for as long as I can remember, so I'm not overly concerned about that, but what about the security of their app?  I control which browser I use and what security settings I have on there.

Working in the industry I see all the horror stories day after day.  There was just a major vulnerability to a simple little logging utility that everyone used.  Is that going to happen here?  Probably not, but I simply don't know.  With working from home, suddenly my gaming PC doubles as a work PC, so the  "just install it and stop complaining" takes aren't really looking at the full picture.  I own a handful of sceneries through them which never get updated.  It is a great option for people who have purchased a ton of stuff through them, but for me it is now just an extra thing I didn't need.

Of course. That was my original point. Trust from a security concern perspective.
Thanks for pointing that out.

Interesting reading all the above comments on the app, because I have been using SimMarket regularly for many years and have always been happy with what was a simple reliable system.

I installed the app recently, but had not used it unti today.  I downloaded a mix of new products and updates. What a disappointment.

I could not get downloads to automatically load to any folder, not even to the downloads folder. Every download had to have a destination confirmed before it would start. Then the download progress indicator was totally hit and miss, requiring the downloads to be restarted several times before it showed.   Also, within the app, on the downloads page, there is an option to show the product keycode. Bizarrely, this can only be observed, but not copied and pasted, which is essential with some complex keys. Fortunately, for the moment at least, the keycodes can still be accessed from the old style downloads web page.  Then the final frustration was the download speeds were very much slower than I had ever experienced before, never exceeding 1.08 MB/s on a 36 MB/s line.  Previously, SimMarket downloads were usually around 4MB/s, not fast, but nothing like today. Of course, the speeds may be unconnected with the new app, but I was not very impressed.  I've sent details to SimMarket so I'll await their response.

If you have none, perhaps it would be better not to spread false rumors publicly

What false rumor or any rumor have I spread?  None.

It was only recently a developer installed a key logger on the pc of people who purchased their product,  Although many seem that people have forgotten this I will never buy a product from him and although I may have to install the simware product I will not be buying more from them.  My computer is mine, I do not install apps from everyone and I have no reason to trust they do not collect information which I think is none of their business.  I am the customer not the product,

I also see there is no Privacy policy for the app though there is for the website.  It also seems it does not use opt in consents as required by the GDPR but relies on implied consent by downloading.

Actually i am also a little bit disappointed - as a long time customer of simMarket i like to have my flightsim products in one place. That was THE reason to buy in that marketplace.

It changed years ago when ORBX brought the new central software and it was possible to install directly to the sim. So no need to copy/paste serials as well no need any more to doublecheck if my product is up to date (the email reminder of updates once worked for simMarket, got no email since month/years i think).

Since then i bought products available on ORBX on their website, products not available on ORBX i bought on simMarket.

I won´t use a product where i have to install all products one by one if it is possible to have it installed automatically with one click (like on most other modern platforms) - for us customers the app (as it is right now) is definitely a step backwards.

What i really can recommend is the CONTRAIL WEBSHOP as an alternative for products not available on ORBX - never heard of them until i switched from P3D to MS2020.

Greets,

Markus
