737 handle...

Recommended Posts

Hello Chris,

It's been a long time since you announced the 737 handle work.., do you have any new information on when we can expect it?

I’m also interested to hear more on this - I imagine it’s not been the main focus with all the supply shortages causing problems fulfilling preorders. But it would still be good to get Chris’ latest thoughts!

Hi, yes you are right it has not been our main focus, however we are working towards getting our kickstarter for our throttle up and running and along side this been working on the 737 handle. I am currently getting quotes from UK based foundries for casting the aluminium. We are also considering them to be made from resin. In either case they would be high quality and finished in the same paint as our current yoke.

Thanks for the reply! Obviously metal would be the better option, but Boeing yokes are a chunky design so I imagine weight might be an issue. Either way, very much looking forward to hearing more in the future - and also looking forward to more news on the throttle quadrant.

Personally I think there’s a real lack of handle-swappable throttles on the market at the high end - the Honeycomb Bravo is basically everything I’d like in a throttle, but without the robust metal design and Hall effect sensors. Keen to hear what you have up your sleeve!

Thanks Chris..

The yoke design can hold the weight, it’s probably more cost driven but we won’t know until we get the pricing.

Would it be possible maybe to offer two options, metal and plastic? I’d gladly pay double for metal if the yoke can handle it.

We are still hoping that metal is viable and will know more in about a week. Standard hand premium versions are being considered too.

Don’t  worry we are looking at all options!

Looking very much forward to the 737 handle for Fulcrum.

Is there any chance you'll be offering a First Officer version from the start? I desperately need one, since I'm using a HOTAS system that has a left-hand throttle unit. And as such I can't fly properly at the moment as I'm unable to trim via yoke while holding the throttle levers.

I would think/hope that I'm not the only one using a proper HOTAS system next to this fine yoke, and as such a handle featuring trim buttons on the RH side would be highly appreciated!

The Thrustmaster pendulum yoke is fantastic for the 737.  Great feeling with a column Yoke movement compared to push/pull yoke.

I'm not convinced it feels so much more "Boeing" like, since the pivoting point for pitch is so much higher up compared to a real yoke, you could even argue the push/pull of Fulcrum feels closer to a real Boeing yoke due to that fact.
In any case, I already own the Fulcrum and love it, I'm not going to switch to a plasticky product just because it "looks" Boeing. Having a 737 handle for Fulcrum will make it perfect for my needs.

Still nothing firm yet but we are currently getting quotes and discussing production techniques with a few aluminium foundries at the moment. We are launching our throttle kickstarter very soon but the yoke work is still continuing.

Re-highlighting my interest in a 737 handle.
Could be a good way for you to cross-finance the early production of the throttle?

Thanks guys, the issue with any of these is the up front development cost. We can 3d print them all day long but people want metal and that means thousands in tooling and a much higher per yoke cost. These are not going to be cheap. We might offer some resin and metal ones at a cheaper price point. Our 3d print is incredibly dense and they would be finished to the same high gloss paint that we currently use. I might get some made to show off.
