The new sounds are superb. And for me 1.9 has fixed an issue I had with poor cruise speed.

Good idea. I eventually navigated my way there. I left a comment stating I was happy that mapping hardware to the AP is being worked on. No idea how effective, but at least I tried!

Yes indeed! This is one mean machine now.

I did an interesting flight last night that I recommend others try. My home airport KHEF in Manassas VA has a runway that points directly at the Wright Bros. Monument in Kitty Hawk NC over 200 miles away and then adjacent airport KFFA.  Perfect for an hour-long hop in this machine.

Since the runway heading is already spot-on, and I had been flying a lot in the Boeing 247 lately, this seemed like a good flight to use dead reckoning.  I flew entirely by hand with no AP, no flight plan, no magenta line and no VOR or ADF.  Just the compass and elapsed time on the handy timer.  The EFB shows wind conditions so get out your calculator and figure a corrected heading. Or wing it.

To make a long story short I flew VFR at 17,500 the whole way trimmed for straight and level, doing about 212 knots TAS with a ground speed of 245 thanks to a quartering tailwind.  Had to stay on top of the heading and altitude due to bumpy air and the last half of the flight was over solid overcast so I did cheat a little bit looking at the display on the 750XI.  Ended up having to fly an approach in overcast breaking out at 900ft ASL and a hairy final over tall trees to a runway shorter than I expected.  But it was a great way to experience the core nature of this plane.  Not everything is about the AP.

Using the drone camera to "walk" up the hill to the monument right there by the airport was icing on the cake.  Way cooler than I expected and highly recommended.

Shouldn't this airplane -- a RAM IV C414 -- true out at around 230 knots though?

I don't know what power setting you used though, maybe you were at 65% power.

I was at about 32" manifold pressure and 2250 RPM.

I just flew an RNAV into KTEX RWY 09 using the PMS GTN 750 and it took me all the way to the fuel pump!

Happy Happy

Does anyone else still find the brake force a bit weak in 1.9?  It seems to eat up a lot more runway on landing than I would expect for an aircraft this size.

Beta Update 2.0 is out as of last night (5/20):

Quote

NEW FEATRUES:

1. New detailed Interior & Exterior 4K textures. Major update from 3DReach!

UPDATES:

1. Primer is required now.

2. DME starts with power on when avionics is powered on. Also included in the save state.

3. Several tooltips updated.

4. Alerter tone is now working.

5. Aircon and heater sound now requires battery.

6. Ground radar gauge moved up to empty slot for the GTN 750 panels.

7. Cowl flaps handle and door now work on the default hardware and the position is now correct.

NOTE:
Do not use the sims autostart as the default events will be active and our custom code will not be in sync and will prevent some custom events from being the right value. For example like both engines feeding from the left tank.

NOTE:
...

@everyone I got the default FLC mode to finally work. So we are planning on using default events on the GFC 600 now that we have new events that P3D did not have. This will allow use to have all of these buttons default. AUTOPILOT, FLIGHT DIRECTOR, YAW DAMPER, IAS, VS, ALT, HDG, NAV, BC AND APR. I think there is a new event for holding pitch level and bank level for LVL. So this will be every button. The only major difference will be that when arming for NAV and APR they will capture based on default logic which should be a match on most. Where is it not the same as the real unit is the NAV mode will not have LOC approach but you can simply use the APR model for a LOC approach. So this is now in the works.

I am pretty fed up that that comment about the AP controls being binded to MSFS key assignments is still just a note at the bottom, that's been there since 1.7.

I was really hoping they would have implemented this, for this update, given that the 'note' states that he'd solved the final remaining mode (FLC).

I really dislike this new trend of devs assuming that everyone uses mouse clicks for everything in addon aircraft.  There are plenty of us that prefer the convenience of using a quick keyboard shortcut to engage AP modes, and particularly turning knobs that are too fiddly to operate with the mouse when flying (heading bug, alt knob, VS, etc).

Addons should not have less functionality than default aircraft.  And even custom coded modes can be bound to default key assignments.

Whine over.

OR you could go to the Flysimware Forum here on AVSIM where the developer will get your message.

Agreed!  Did you notice the new digital altitude alerter?  Works good!  Also the mirror and 70's Las Vegas Casino carpet has never looked better...

Couldn't agree more. I am holding off purchasing until this is fixed. Getting fed up of waiting..

Yeah I had been using a grey interior mod as well as the beige carpet mod, decided to remove both to see what the new native 4K interior texture looked like.  Very sharp.

Had an extremely enjoyable quick flight in Virginia with it this morning,  Beautiful day for VFR and everything worked perfectly,  It's really gotten dialed in during this beta period.
