That's right: perhaps it comes from insecurity present in those subforums as a direct consequence of what I deemed, "Identity Flight Simming", manifested as hostility for anything but the party line. I first visited there w/ absolute innocence in wanting to learn about XP12 having just heard about it, shared screenshots of MSFS to back up my comments, and that was the extent of it until the assaults commenced by the rabid dogs there, and there are about 4-5 of the dogs that frequent that kennel. In short order they summoned the moderators to have me removed. One moderator messaged me in private to apologize, said he understood where I was coming from, but essentially said they do what they do to keep the peace there as it's well known amongst moderators for being a bastion of hostility for 'foreigners'. The irony is they were the worst possible ambassadors for Xplane. Not that I care because I will check it out when it finally arrives and of course I wish them absolute success. My sense is by the time it releases complete w/ its own set of growing pains for new features, MSFS will have matured further and lapse them once again. April 12, 20224 yr Here's a little niggle that drove me nuts, and was present since release for me: frequently when the white spinning logging indicator displayed I would get a microstutter. I got around it by going into DevMode, toggle on then immediately off, and this stopped the spinner from displaying (more accurately reduced it by 98%). But this workaround resulted in preventing logging flights into the pilot log. This was quietly fixed in SU7 or SU8 I forget, but I appreciate it. I did 3 or more zendesks on this issue. My next hope is to get the dang ATC text window from generating its associated microstutter--and it's not the audio per se as I can disable the text window from displaying and that is the end of the stutter, even though ATC voice continues right on queue. I've done 2 zen desks on that since early on but no luck so far. So my work around is to turn off the ATC window but then sometimes i need to reenable it to see something I missed. I think it may actually be the little static that they append to the Azure or Offline speech to simulate shutting the mic off--perhaps it causes a problem w/ text-to-speech is a guess. April 12, 20224 yr Brief detour to share this shot I just took flying out of CYRV. Just phenomenal! I've added PACX and while initially I thought it was a bit simple it's been great to add some dimension to airline operation which is what I do most of the time. It combined w/ AirHauler 2 (would absolutely not buy it again) is helping me do what I enjoy until that masterpiece of balance, FSCaptain, debuts for MSFS. I had a fabulous experience with multiple failures including some avionics shortly after TO yesterday out of KSBA in the AS CRJ700 whereupon we had to fly back in w/o a lot of navigation intact and land back at KSBA. The PAX didn't like it but the experience had my teeth chattering until I saw we were lined up properly for a VFR landing, braking out of local low visibility shortly before landing. Little Nav Map helped! Rob Young was just today described as "having total disdain for MSFS", and he had to jump in the thread and say no, I like MSFS. He shouldn't have to do that! His criticism of MSFS flight model / ground friction model should not be taken as a slight against MSFS. But some people here do that, clannish zealotry just like the XPlane forum. The mods have a tough job because they want everything to be balanced and not be perceived as playing favorites. That promotes unity or at least keeps the oil and water from mixing too much. With respect to Rob Young, I offered to help upvote his concerns about the flight model to get the attention of Microsoft/Asobo: https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/615323-flight-model-upcoming-cfdphysics-enhancements-etc/?do=findComment&comment=4729442 The offer still stands. We can upvote the concerns and possible solutions that Rob Young would like to propose, at the next Twitch Q&A, or the next SDK Q&A. So I disagree with you about this MSFS forum being only "clannish zealotry." Some of us do read the the criticism, and if it's valid criticism, and try to do something productive about it (then there are silly posts like the very first post in this thread written by the OP, that are just a waste of time without any valid criticism at all).
