CaptainSim Hercules C-130 released

I bet you're pretty close to the mark on this.  Can you check a few casinos and see if anyone is running odds on this? 🤣

I'm surprised we haven't seen any repaints for it yet on flightsim.to. 😂  Bless their hearts, but I wish all the painters who grab CS products and paint the KRAP outta' them and post them there would just not paint any for 1 month after release, then watch the sales of the CS shell dry up quickly to the point where CS will move on to the next project.

They WILL eventually run outta external models to port over from 2004/FSX/P3d.  Then they'll have to close shop or find another way to scam the simming community.

LoL....they are even getting lambasted over at their own forum....CS is offline now...go read the comments before he deletes them.

What like this repaint I did?

The really sad thing about this, is the fact that their old C-130 was probably one of the better flight sim aeroplanes around, really pretty good from a system-simulation standpoint. And this was back when CS were noted for being the developer among the leaders in making nice virtual cockpits; it's true that these tended to impact on the FPS you got with their stuff, but they were nonetheless right up there with the 'must haves' along with their B707 and 727.

To go from that level, to knocking out a plane without any cockpit at all and charging about 15 quid for it just shows how low the company has sunk, especially when we consider that last week we were treated to getting a Boeing 247 with top-notch looks and features which was only five quid more than this embarrassing travesty of a release.

If they'd have banged it out for a fiver, it would just, maybe, seem an acceptable effort, but anything more than that is really taking the p***. I thought they'd reached their nadir with that Cripple Seven that had a 747 cockpit linked to it, but it seems there is no limit to their fall from grace. CS apparently now stands for Caveat Secus.

From their forum:

"We do understand that many most of the people who want the C-130, want it with a cockpit.
But we do not have the cockpit available for sale.
What we have for now is an understanding that an exterior model is better than nothing."

LOL Hilarious! Haha! Are they serious...?!? Yes, they are...!!!

It never fails, Captain Sim can make products and pretty much count on places like Avsim to invest 10+ page threads of pointless ridicule and atleast play the numbers game of getting a percentage of consumers to consider and buy the product.

Some of you just need to admit you are aroused by drama and enjoy such product releases because its something to make a huge thread about venting about and frowning upon.

Captain Sim dev playing psyche ops at this point...it's amazing he can trigger certain folks here to pour so much energy to bashing and going on trying to convince others not to buy. Do some of you even hear yourselves?

You're throwing a hissy fit over a product you wouldn't even glance over at this point and enough with the whole" people who buy it are wrong and doing the community a disservice".. CS are no longer even on a factor on a top 20 list.

Simply mind your business and let people buy and paint the thing and fly in external chase view if they choose, who do you think you are flight sim consumer lobbyists?🙃

Actual decent products don't even receive this much attention at times...🤣

They were! I remember it even after all these years.
I was young and stupid back in the FS2004 days (just stupid now, lol).  They started the infamous "Block" system when 2 companies were competing to get the 1st 757 to 2004 market.  Sadly I bought into it.

CS was working on a 767 at the time, but since the LDS 767 was already out and highly popular, they saw the writing on the wall.  They had lotsa' pretty images of the 767 on their site, and it did look good (they always had a great exterior modeler).  What they didn't have was a systems/avionics/FMC coder.

Soooo....they had a brilliant (and deceptive) idea.  They musta been working on the 757 exterior model because literally overnight, all the 767 marketing stuff was replaced with 757 stuff....including a pretty exterior model...a "shell" in other words  (shell.....see where this is going?)

They started hyping it big time, saying the model was almost done, the sounds not far behind, the flight model just a few months away....etc.  Enter the "Block" system.

  1. Block A - the exterior shell.  Buy it and link it to the default 737 in fs2004 and you'll have a 757 that flys and sounds like the default 737 (Hmmm....seems they are now doing that in MSFS?)
  2. Block B- at this point i can't remember the specific order they came out in...but C,D,E were things like "some" systems, sounds, flight model, connect to an iPad, etc.

The final block....block F was the avionics and FMC.

They only had Block A essentially ready when they did the bum rush to beat the others to market (I think it was LDS and Phoenix---now BBS), and needless to say, they conned a lot of folks away from those other devs (true LDS never release theirs sadly), and about 2 years and a new platform later (FSX) they finally came out with the FMC.
In the process...they made an announcement that they were cancelling all FS2004 dev work for the shiny new FSX, including the 757 Block system...and would move it to FSX.   You can imagine it caused an uproar even greater than their recent brilliant idea to pull painter's liveries off flightsim.to and threated to sue them.  They eventually capitulated and finished it for 2004, but then never supported it as all support for FS2004 ended as well (not they ever supported a product once the next shiny new one came out...a trait they exhibit to this day.)

CS has been a sham company IMO ever since then, and every release (except maybe the 767 for P3d and the L1011) were junk in my opinion, and completely abandoned when the next project arrived.

It's really sad how far they have fallen, their 707 and 727 were top notch.... The L-1011 was good aswell.

Hehe....you did that paint back when the package had a cockpit...you can't fool me mister.

You don't paint anymore...you're too busy flying 747 freighters all over the globe.  🤔

I am so glad there are people familiar with the way this company made things from the past such as I.  And they are coming out and saving people from getting the shaft. I first read wow the ole C-130 from Captain Sim. Which I had back in the FSX days and enjoyed. Now lol hello NO!

But wait maybe now days peoples idea of aviation is a drone.  If I wanted to sim r/c or drone word not allowed I would go buy realflight specifically made for r/c simming.

Thanks to all the aviation / sim aficionados on here for their complaining so someone don't get burnt.

If they cannot be bothered to include a cockpit, then I cannot be bothered to buy it. 👎

The sad thing about this - people will buy this unaware (for whatever reason) that it does not have a VC. Who in this day and age would think that an aircraft released in 2022 would not have a virtual cockpit?

Well, that's on the folks buying this, because it clearly states on the product page; C-130 exterior.

Lol. Captainsim never fails to lower the bar. 😄

a way to spin a slick marketing phrase to imply that it's a fully modeled C-130 to lure unsuspecting simmers to buy it,

Eh, this is you imagining thigs because there is no "slick marketing" here, it says clearly on the product page "C130 exterior"

The only thing that's sad here are the usual avsim baby carrots with their tired old "CS is garbage" shtick. This is even more stale than my old sneakers, and it smells just as bad.

Ok, we get it, you need a heart transplant  because CS released a C 130 without a virtual cockpit.

If I could sell avsim's forums to Netflix, I'd make a killing.

Eh, this is you posting a partial statement to be taken out of context...

Post the full quote, and it appears that I was not imagining "thigs"....whatever those are. 🤔

..."No.....no we're not surprised at all....we are surprised though that this time you couldn't find a way to spin a slick marketing phrase to imply that it's a fully modeled C-130 to lure unsuspecting simmers to buy it, then come complaining in your forums that they didn't understand what the marketing hype actually meant. "

I appreciate the effort though. 😉
