April 13, 20224 yr At MSFS add-on sales shops in Europe I see this sometimes, what does 'withdraw' mean? "By downloading the product, you lose your right to widthdraw the product according to European Directive 2011/83/EU on Consumer Rights" 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.
April 13, 20224 yr Commercial Member It means that, for products covered by copyright ( downloads, magazines, ebooks, etc. ), the normal right of withdrawal, which is almost always granted for other online purchases ( more precisely, purchases not made in a physical store ), can be denied AFTER the download started, provided you have been INFORMED of this BEFORE you start the download. So, the disclaimer is doing exactly that: informing you are losing your right of withdrawal, if you continue in the download process. Note that, by "right of withdrawal", we are referring here to the "I changed my mind, I don't like the product", which is usually granted for products not covered by copyright so, for example, you could buy a TV online, and return it without giving any specific motives, as long you are inside the return period ( usually 14 days). But copyrighted products have an exemption, otherwise you could buy a book or a magazine, read it, and return it within the legal period, or download a game, play it to completion and return it, that's why copyrighted products have a limitation on the right of withdrawal, provided, of course, you have been informed of it, and you consented to this limitation, usually by starting the download. Right of return for DEFECTIVE/FAULTY/NOT WORKING products, is a different thing, which for software can be quite tricky, but in general is not the same as the return with no motivations. April 13, 20224 yr Thats right. Also i think the basic idea was/is to help protect consumers from hidden costs and to improve transparency for online/digital purchases...coordinated by EU member states, before actual download purchasing. 🌼 Edited April 14, 20224 yr by icewater5
