Awesome flight into Cuzco (SPZO) in the CRJ700

Recommended Posts

From Lima today and really a lovely flight and cool landing!  Oddly enough ATC announced all the right steps in all the right places for this challenging RNAV approach and landing, every step was perfectly executed by ATC!  I think it does best when there are really challenging approaches!  The Andes are just so amazing to witness from above!

There's something about SPZO that has made it my favorite non-Florida & Caribbean airport to fly in and out of ever since I discovered it in FSX, and then in P3D.

I really like the CRJ.  I'd definitely buy it again now having had it for a month or so.  I understand they are back working on it now and I don't know what that means if they are adding new functionality or not.  It does not have terrain mapping which makes it not the best choice for Cuzco perhaps that's in the cards I don't know.   I read from some here that it can't reliably track LNAV properly and I have discovered that claim is unfounded--when I first got the plane less than a month ago it fooled me a few times until I got on to how to properly clean up flight plan waypoints etc.  If you failed at that you can quickly realign by going into HDG mode, toggle AP off and back on, then reenable LNAV and back she goes.  But this is rare for me now.  I'm going to be doing this flight as a PAX in about a month so cool to doing it in sim world.

Cusco is certainly an amazing place to be simming. Lucky you are to go there in RL. It’s on my bucket list 🙂

I think the CRJ is a real joy to fly in msfs, it really shines in this sim. To me it never performed really well or met its potential in P3D. I always had tracking problems with it in that sim even after it was allegedly fixed. Hand flying it in msfs is so much fun.

I have been enjoying the CRJ in MSFS more and more. I switch between the CRJ and the DC-6, so getting deep into both of them has taken some time. The FMS is really been the hardest thing for me to really figure out, but I am getting there. Lots of reading and video watching...lol. I have traditionally been more of GA type of simmer, but between the CRJ and the DC-6 I am enjoying both of them very much.

I have to share yet another sterling airport in MSFS. I did Cuzco to Rio De Janeiro today in the CRJ and was blown away on approach as I'd never been to SBGL before.  I have to shake my head when I read this tripe over on the other sim forum which broadcasts nothing but lies about MSFS--which is very telling it's about all they can say and it will only get worse as MSFS matures:

It's from up in the air but the closer you get the better it gets:
