but the packages can seriously hit performance with the OSM data generated as facades... the library objects, not so much...

yeah, Ive sometimes seen my framerate drop all the way down to 150fps in 2D at max detail.

Disaster.

I do not have XP11 Simheaven installed anymore to chcek this area but I decided to explore the area in MS Sim... I got the following...

All default except the Chimneys + Fancier powerline from a 3rd party package (We Love VFR)...

Comp.jpg

One of the biggest powerstations in the country.

demoted to two chimney stacks and its sheer size melted into the dem data

better than not having chimney stacks i guess.

multiple additional kilometers of river that shouldnt be visible.

Then you get into how off the colours and lighting are.

"OK - not great".

At least marginally better than the same shot from google earth on my phone.

All as "OK not great" as XP11 with Ortho.

But there is some hope for XP12.

The lighting and water is finally being fixed, that should really stop the complaining from many around XPs graphics.

The trees, omg the trees. even if they do take a while post release to match correctly, seasonal, quality vegetation with snow and rain accumulation will likely instantly ruin any enjoyment you get from any other flight sim....

it was easy to miss, it was 10 years ago or smth and also not that exciting.

The point was you would be expected to post an XP screenshot and not Google Earth. But you evaded that nicely, as usual, if I may say.

NDA... and as they said their scenery tile recut is still in progress... but these are the things I complained about in XP11, will hopefully have slightly less to complain about in XP12.

MSFS doesnt fix them and therefore has equally as "not great" scenery as XP11.

Its one thing to say that blackshark ai is giving you a highly detailed entire world with building footprints matched with fancy AI.

But if its missing lots of the buildings you need for a flight simulator - and you also can not add them.... its a bit dishonest to say that decade old bad options are actually new, innovative good options.

And just how phenominally realistic XP was.

So e.g. that claim was regarding XP12 and not XP11? That would explain some things...

well, for example, the "river visible when it shouldnt be"

was just covered by Ben in the deep dive 2.5.

the biggest reason it is standing out (besides insufficient river banking) and visible in msfs shot and not the photo or google earth shot, is because in current sims it is sky brightness and reflecting sky, instead of a realistic ground brightness reflecting only ground - which IRL "camoflages" it when viewed from a distance.

yes, we are talking about xp12, you know - the thread topic... I do mostly try and keep things on topic.

Would you mind taking a comparison screenshot in stock XP11, just so we can see?

very similar to the ms shot, Im on the beach atm, I do have

and

from last year which is turning right to and just after hanging a right at OBR respectively.

All the problems I listed are as much default XP11 problems that Ive moaned about and tried to fix over the years (my scenery has a rough sketchup model on OBR).

Ive never seen a screenshot from any sim that looked even 50% similar to real life, to any of the basic properties of that photo, although orthophoto (identical in both xp and msfs)

because I said ^^?

I dislike the heavy saturation in MFS/Bing as well, but you can fix it by using the tool that swaps them out for Google imagery.. looks way better in places and more realistic.
