What is wrong with Avsim?

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to say since a few weeks if I open Avsim it just redirects me to this google adds.

I can't even use the forum anymore even when I type this message on my macbook.

Also can not even click things on the right side of the page because of all the adds!

And yes I donated also to Avsim but now it seems a lot of times just unusuable!

This has been a problem many of us has spoken out about over and over again. The Avsim Admins say they don't know how to stop it which I can't understand.  Looks like for revenue purposes they've opened up pandora's box and don't know how to close it.🧐

Disclaimer: As I'm a System's Administrator and Web Administrator there's nothing going on on any site I administer that I can't either answer to/control and/or disable if it's service affecting. But that's just me...

I’m afraid the ads they run on this site are frustrating. They often load when you click on links (thread titles etc) or redirect you to fake websites trying to offer you deals. Best thing to do is get an Adblock installed on your browser. If you visit the forum via an iPhone or iPad then browsers such as Edge has a built in Adblocker and pop up blocker. (This needs to be enabled in the settings)

Why on earth do they think having users redirecting to sites shown in this screenshot: https://imgur.com/45EUiet is ok lol

There would definitely be a way of disabling ads like this or stop them from occurring when you click on a thread link. This would only get more users in the end to install Adblock and defeat the purpose of having ads in general.

Yep there's been plenty of threads regarding this issue that just get locked down, the amount of Ads on mobile devices is very intrusive and nothing like I see on any other forum that I frequent. The Mods here bat it off but it's been like this for months, if not a year now, I fully understand that Ads are needed to help fund the place but it can be done soooooo much simpler and better than what AVSim does.

Ads yes perfectly fine. The scam pop up that’s happening now isn’t.

Firstly - I am NOT speaking as an Admin or MOD of Avsim -

I have not seen any ads using Chrome with adblock on my pc.

I rarely use my Samsung Galaxy phone to connect to Avsim as it's difficult to see but in the few times that I have, I have seen very few ads. If you are getting a lot of popup ads and redirects, you seriously need to look at your phone's security setup
