Cheers for that, it's a very quirky plane, looks like a lot of fun to fly, but it also seems quite hard to master. I watch a couple of tutorial video, it will take ages to learn everything.

For me the worst part is the sound, maybe it's me but each beeps and alarm seem really agressive, can you really focus in an emergency? even the stab trim is loud...

Thanks for posting that.  I’ve seen it come up in my YouTube feed a few times but this is the first time I’ve actually watched it.  Fascinating and really shows how the Maddog just oozes character.

Been a while since I watched that one.  My best friend flew the Maddog for a few years and just loved it... "even though it tries to kill you" LOL

It's a bit odd for an addon in this league to not come with a high-quality sound set.

It's a little hard to find an MD-80 to rent and make a sound package with these days.

I don't think anyone of us who hasn't actually flown all these aircraft IRL can make a statement on which one offers a higher fidelity of systems.

Well, I'm not a commercial pilot, but having friends who worked in flight sims back in the day was advantageous, because the DC-9 full motion sim was one I spent a lot of time with 25-ish years ago. Leonardo hasn't figured out how to turn my desk chair into a full motion base yet, and of course there's no substitute for having the real controls to reach out and touch rather than mouseover and click, but the thing looks like the inside of that old sim, makes all the right noises at all the right times, everything works, even the stuff you wouldn't expect a sim plane to implement, and it even flies quite similarly (the P3d version, anyway).

Inasmuch as it's possible to have true realism on a desktop flight simulator that's sitting in the room of a suburban house, Leonardo has pulled it off to an amazing degree.

I wonder if the model mirror for commas? My friend used to fly MD-82 as a captain for American Airlines (before their retired them), he absolutely loved mad dog.

Great news, can’t wait to try it out.

I’m always really amazed at the amount of discussion there is about pricing when these kind of high fidelity addons come out (Maddog or PMDG or other …) and the stance some users have because this is priced 75 and not 70, 68 or maybe 61 😂

Obviously we’re looking at complex programming that in some cases took years to develop , do people expect to get this nearly for free?

Does it really change something if it is priced at 65, 75 , 85 or even 100?

Maybe I’m living in another reality but in proportion where I live ordering a coffee at a bar is about 5 USD , a single cinema ticket is USD 19 and like another user said above eating in a decent restaurant costs nearly USD 100 for 2.

I mean for the amount of enjoyment you are supposed to have with these products in terms of numbers of hours , IMHO , it’s really cheap ..

100 euros can be the weekly salary of many people around here.

Absolutely.  I think it is not so much about the amount of money you have to invest but whether you are prepared to put in the amount of time necessary to get a return on that investment.

So, for some a purchase of this nature would be for the sake of curiosity and that simply isn't going to cut it for the amount of cash that has to be stumped up.  Objection: Way too expensive, I wont buy.

Still others might have a keen interest but know in themselves they will never be able to spend enough time getting the best out of the model and despite good intentions at the beginning will eventually lose the initial flush of enthusiasm and the aircraft will become a hangar queen. Objection:  Price is maybe a little high but hey, I might consider buying this?

Then there are the enthusiasts for which price is not the issue and they fully expect to get long term enjoyment thus getting a positive return on the initial outlay. Objection: Day 1 purchase for me!!

So it's not about the price but rather the use or utility that someone might expect to get for that money which makes people say that something is too expensive, or it's priced right considering the quality of the product. Perhaps this quote from Henry David Thoreau explains it more succinctly that I can:

"The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it".

I am not one of those who complained about the price, but your logic is faulty: People are not saying they can not afford it all, they are questioning whether it would be worth it in relation to their interest, their potential usage, the quality of the aircraft, other aircrafts etc.
I have no idea why a sane person would pay 19 dollars to go the cinema, but maybe it‘s worth it to them? Anyway even if it wasn‘t, just because you are wasting money in one place does not mean that you should waste money everywhere. Me for example I spent way too much money on flight sims but am rather cautious with other expenses.
Also: How do you know those people do spend such amounts on a coffee or cinema? Maybe they are just as critical in that regard?

So you see you make arbitrary assumptions or rather wild guesses, do some unlogical conclusions and even have the audacity to make fun of those people. I know the internet is the internet, but maybe reread your post and think twice next time before you click on „submit reply“.

I was thinking yesterday that there are probably a number of classic aircraft that have been rapidly withdrawn from service in the past 2 years on top of those that have gradually removed from service in the past five or so.

If someone were to do a 727 (and I so hope someone does eventually) it would have been much easier to find one to record sounds off a few years ago but now even most cargo operators have retired them.

€75 for the MSFS Maddog... just €5 less than the P3D v4 version and €20 less than the v5 one. Not so different from P3D prices 😒

And before anyone starts comparing with the price of a dinner out, a fancy one for two here is barely $30, and a coffee is almost never over $2. So yes, there is more than one reality here at Avsim, pricewise (and incomewise). MS Marketplace somehow corrects (or for some countries, overcorrects) this issue , so I end up buying there all my MSFS addons. With Simmarket sales only, I'll let it pass. Too expensive for me as of now. I've got other priorities...

I think there are still a few operating in Africa and maybe South America. The trick would be getting their operators to suspend cargo ops while you take it some place quiet to record its noises.

With all the drama with Fabio, PMDG and the overexposure I can't wait for this to come out. Just give us a good airliner already.

Today's stream with a German Streamer flying the Maddog. Little pre-warning, he has no idea what's he's doing so you'll see him take off with the standby still caged, the master caution still illuminated, and he slams those poor JT8D's to 2.28 EPR's. Thankfully he has failures off, haha.

It's a beautiful aircraft in this stream. I can't wait!
