Leonardo Maddog to be released 30 April!

I had the same issue, man. If you have a "mixture" axis assigned, make sure that it's in the RICH position. I guess the controls flash/reset when you press escape, so if the mixture axis is in idle/cutoff, it'll kill your engines.

Nice pro-tip. Confirming that my mixture axis was in the idle cutoff position.

Third flight was better for me. Hand flew it almost the whole way from Milan to Stuttgart. Quite stuttery on approach to EDDS, not sure if that was the sim, the aircraft or the airport (first time flying in to the Asobo bespoke EDDS). Up until last 20 miles, aircraft seemed nice and smooth.

Sim crashed just as I was approaching the gate. There was a fair bit going on, including plenty of AIG traffic, so I'd be hesitant to blame the aircraft unless this keeps happening.

Overall, I enjoyed the flight (criteria for success - end on the ground at the destination airport, not in a lake). The aircraft has a feeling of having deep systems, whilst still being amenable to hand flying/manual throttles - just be careful you don't melt those engines!.

I just tried to take off and all my systems, engine and electrical just shut down! Really? I spent hundredth of hours flying Rotate MD-80, I can't figure out what am I doing wrong? LOL

1. If you go over the EPR redline, both engines melt together, or at least they used to on my P3D version. Turning off failure or flying within the EPR limits avoids this. Though I doubt the real JT8D-217A's self destruct quite as quickly as my previous sim versions used to do.

2. Did you do what I did, and hit escape to get to the menu? As per the other comments, that can kill them.

3. Of course, you might have something different going on.

But my first two flights ended in ignominy after I tried option 2 with my mixture axis set to cutoff.

Actually had a very successful first flight despite being very rusty flying this plane. I noticed some sound issues when landing particularly the aural radio altitude announcements kept cutting out and I didn’t hear the minimums signal sound. Performance is pretty bad compared to other aircraft I’ve flow which is a shame because it was really good it P3D.

Thanks. I did press ESC when adjusted my assignments. I turned off failures for now!

We all have our moment of weakness 😛

Do you have mixture control levers mapped to your quadrant? If present, they will directly control the fuel levers in the MD80. If they are in idle cut-off position when you load the aircraft, it might not detect it right away, but any slight change in aircraft state could cause the fuel supply to the engines to suddenly shut off.

I use Honecomb Brabo, and I didn't bind fuel shut off switches.

I am getting close to 60fps in flight. that's pretty good to me

By the way I was under impression that ground radar is working. But I can't figure out how! Does anyone know?

I saw that also, but in my case it's pretty FPS consuming.

You don’t have to specially bind the fuel shutoff levers. If the standard recip engine mixture control levers are active on your bravo quadrant, they will control the MD80 fuel control levers whether you want them to or not. The solution is to either use them that way (as MD fuel control levers) i.e. start with them in idle cut-off and move them to full rich when starting the Maddog engines, or unassign those axes when flying the Maddog.

Anyone experience serious lag with instrument display, autopilot and autothrottle in flight?

first flight 1.2 hours long no issue.

On my second flight at about 50mins in, it looked liked the plane was flying at 5fps while the sim was running at 30fps for like 5mins then went back to normal.

serious lag with tuning autopilot knobs, PFD/ND refresh rate really laggy, autopilot and autothrottle laggy and unresponsive but plane and sim flying smoothly at 30FPS.

Very strange stuff.

Everyone should download this invaluable guide for MD!

The Terrain Radar control is right under the RMI Indicator on page 19 of this pdf.
