Lost performance after SU9 update.

Recommended Posts

After I updated to SU9 I’ve noticed that I’ve lost around 5/6 FPS when on the ground. I run my monitor locked at 30FPS/30Hz, nothing in community folder during update, I don’t run cache and system specs in signature. Prior to SU9 I can fly into Imaginesim Atlanta, FT Boston and my system would hold 30 FPS. Now while on ground I’m seeing 24-29 FPS.  Settings are the same.

Flight : FBW A320

KBOS to KATL

5? You could sneeze and loose or gain 5FPM.

Yes 5, as I stated above, I'm locked at 30hz and in SU8 I did this same flight dozens of times and frames hold steady at 30 FPS. So when I see it drop down to 24 and things are sluggish I know something is wrong. From your reply you don't run a 4K at 30 Hz.

Update, did a full system reboot and taxied around Boston and Atlanta with real weather and performance is holding at a sold 30 again. Not sure if a second reboot was required.

Hope it stays solid for you. 5fps makes a world of difference when trying to achieve 30fps!

Michael, thanks for providing the link. Looks like I’m not the only one experiencing this issue.

Here is a link to my thread on the official forum

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/performance-at-ksfo-massively-down-in-su9beta/508831

Here is another one from the beta forum

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/su9-beta-terrible-performance/511852

Seemingly, it's not a general performance loss but the main thread being exhausted under specific situations/settings.

Kind regards, Michael

I bet it's photogrammetry, always has been (unless it's some faulty mod). This might also vary depending on server load, because PG cities go heavy on the servers.

My frames get wrecked once I touch down and taxi in to the gate.

If you are using photogrammetry try the fix in those links. That’s the biggest known issue. For some reason those little files even though they are in Europe mess up the rest of the worlds performance. Something else could be going on but it’s basically a double your FPS on the ground fix if you have those installed.  AIG models and lots of AI traffics could be another issue but I don’t use any of that right now.

@TravelRunner404 put me on to a fix that really helped.  Try this - https://ibb.co/gyP8YbB

I'm really glad this is gaining more traction. A lot of us have been doing this since last fall when we noticed it. I noticed after I did a clean install of MSFS and had wildly amazing FPS and wasn't sure why. Of course, it was because none of the WU with their accompanying Photogrammetry cities were installed. Before I understood the issue, I, like most, installed all of the WU including the photo cities without thinking (because its great free content!) and my FPS literally halved at most airports. And this is a cumulative issue. With every WU, folks are just installing the new free content and wondering why FPS are going down and down and down...Luckily the data is only a few 100 kbs and super easy to install/uninstall.

Sorry, could you be a bit more explicit what the fix is? I see the Australia, France, etc  photogrammetry in that imgbb link. What exactly am I supposed to do? Deleting France and Australia etc. Photogrammetry completely isn't an option for me. Should I re-install it or something else?

Thanks and sorry for being a bit slow with thinking.

Kind regards, Michael

Just finished a flight from Amsterdam to Ajaccio and performance on both pc’s was very good. Best clouds since a long time and it all came together as I had hoped for ….

Using Prosim cockpit suite here where all systems are running outside MSFS….
