The Klingons got it from trading with the Romulans when they had an alliance.

I'm reliable informed by my Trek expert that... the Romulans did indeed get cloaking tech, officially,  from Romulans. They briefly had an alliance before they became enemies.

Warp Drive was indeed taken from another species though. Klingons were invaded by a warp capable species called the Hur'q. Klingons over through them and reverse engineered their warp drive tech. The Ferengi on the other hand bought their warp drive tech from another species... typical.

So, where does Zefram Cochrane fit into all of this?

Here is the story, better than the movie Generations ever could have been, that tells you everything you could possibly ever have wanted to know about zefram Cochrane and warp drive.

I believe this was the first "magnum opus" Star Trek novel, and like the best of them, it stands on its own not only as a Star Trek novel but as great science fiction...

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

I've never understood the need to make fun of obvious typo's.

What's that got to do with it.

Proofreading isn't relevant to whether I see the need for making fun of typo's. I was in a hurry.

I tend to ignore them.
