My GTX 1080 card is probably coming to the end of its life with only 8gb. (Although still performing adequately).

Two local online stores have what seems reasonably priced cards available with far more memory.

An  RTX 2060 with 12GB and an RTX 3060, also with 12 Gb both Palit brands.

I won't mention the price, as it will mean nothing in ZARands to most people. But they are quite close to each other.

Are these any good?

Based on performance and possible release of the 4000 series later this year, I would personally go for the RTX 3060.

I have a RTX 3060 12GB and it runs p3dv5 with no issues whatsoever,never using more than 7GB of its memory and thats at a VRAM hungry Latin VFR LEMD.

I'm not sure, but I think the 2060 would be a downgrade. Go for the 3060 instead.

Main rig: self built, AMD Ryzen 5 5600X with PBO enabled (but default settings, CO -15 mV, and SMT ON), 2x16 GB DDR4-3200 RAM, Nvidia RTX3060 Ti 8GB, 256 GB M.2 SSD (OS+apps) + 2x1 TB SATA III SSD (sims) + 1 TB 7200 rpm HDD (storage), Viewsonic VX2458-MHD 1920x1080@120 Hz, Windows 10 Pro. Runing FSX-SE, MSFS and P3D v5.4 (with v4.5 default airports).

Mobile rig: ASUS Zenbook UM425QA (AMD Ryzen 7 5800H APU @3.2 GHz and boost disabled, 1 TB M.2 SSD, 16 GB RAM, Windows 11 Pro). Running FS9 there... sometimes on just battery! FSX-SE also installed, just in case. 

VKB Gladiator NXT Premium Left + GNX THQ as primary controllers. Xbox Series X|S wireless controller as standby/travel.

What resolution are you running at Ian?

Given the choice between an RTX 2060 and an RTX 3060, I would buy the RTX 3060.

My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.
