No longer, 'as real as it gets...' Nope, simply 'is real'..

Over the last many weeks, since the latest SU9 version, I have been 'grooming' SU9's Community Folder,  deleting files that were conflicting, with SU9's performance, or were in fact locking SU9 up, preventing a load out to my selected airport, world-wide.

I have succeeded pretty much with that effort, to have very smooth 30 'ish FPS for most scenes, and scenarios...as well as no CTD's or no refusal to 'load bar' fully to the right and then into my chosen airport/situation. So that is very good!

What I really wanted to post today, was that truly,  truly...all hyperbole aside,  (as I for real life,  travel by air a lot between San Diego, and Oakland, California for business, and know the FL 'view' as I fly along the coast, like the back of my hand...the fields at FL340/350,  mountain ranges,  coastal installations,  roads/freeway infrastructure...etc...truly as I flew in the Max 737 (in MSFS SU9/Enhanced MAP (BING), (on Auto Pilot A.I.) so I could act with a mental view, as a passenger from departure taxi, to taxi to the gate in Oakland (KOAK),  I can say now, since my starting with flight simulation...in '82...(Atari...Commodore...IBM 386...etc...) I have in front of me,  on screen,  TRUE LIFE VISUALS (!) ..absolutely the 'real visual  deal' below the wing, with the MSFS Enhanced App, running the latest BING maps (newest).

I was just slack jawed this afternoon, as my mind, had no problem whatsoever,  to make me feel that I was INDEED,  at FL350,  over the coast of California...heading from San Diego, to Oakland...   It wasn't merely real....it WAS real...for everything that I remember with my most recent business flight, was there...I was flying over it...as it was in Real Life.

I guess that I can so happily say...that what I had been hoping for for YEARS....ever since flight simulation was introduced into my Den...is that I (other than KNOWING that I am sitting in front of a computer monitor...)  am truly flying now, over the 'real world'...and no other simulator on my system can offer now, what I have presently with MSFS SU9 supplying the visuals...whether at 2,800 feet, or any of the FL's...

Today, I say, that I have 'arrived' at the gate...that gate that I was waiting to taxi up to, for 44 years.  I have finally arrived at my flight simulation  visual-arrival 'gate'... 🙂

@Sesquashtoo,

I am with you. I never thought I would have as much flying a sim, as I do flying in real life. MSFS2020 is fantastic.

How do you know which were conflicting?

With the upcoming hotfix to SU9 announced yesterday by Asobo, I would assume they would want to test the 737 against that before the initial public release of the airplane. The hotfix might not have any effect (good or bad) on the current version of the 737 - or it might break it.

Seriously then they may as well never release it.

Breaking things ad nauseam has been going on since MSFS2020 released!

The irony of reading this, while there is an Xbox Gaming Servier worldwide outage, and no-one who is not already in the sim, can get into it.

We had a hard week in the family and my son and I had reserved this evening to go flying in MSFS..... first time I've ever owned a flight sim where the company's server dictates when I can sim and when I can't (yes, I know, Xbox / PS gamers will be used to this.  I'm not!).    Wish I had X-Plane 11 or even FSX installed..... 😄

It may be an amazing sim, but it's utilization by MS just sucks.

Constant intermittant connection errors over the last few weeks, and now an outage that's just gone past the hour.   This really is a "metered" sim now.   Can't bank on using it when you want to..... only when it's available.

Emotive rant over.

I agree with your sentiments. MSFS is the simulator we all "wished" for from the moment any of us old timers fired up their first virtual wings.  Sure, it is not perfect, there is still plenty of growth that can happen ... but this is truly the FIRST time that I can honestly say that a flight simulator is offering that sense of "reality" that we have wished for all along... ever since I gleefully looked at a screen like the one below, I have been waiting on the promise of MSFS... and I feel it has been delivered to me at last.

Bonus points to anybody who can name the game above, which was some of the most fun I have ever had in a LAN party in my life (nothing like dog-fighting with a couple of drinks in you).  😂

Very slow process...very slow....but,   I would try to load in an airport (for instance, KZB, Zachar Bay) and it would only load (blue load bar) to 40 percent then SU9 would simply hang.  Finished...  Had to Task out of it.

I'd look at what I had for Alaska...(custom add on's...)  and would  start pulling one folder after another, after starting to try to load out the aforementioned.   I'd keep pulling out, non-essentials, until I loaded in.  I then added back everything but what stopped me from loading in.   If I could add everything, back, (other than the one identified offender) I would, but if I could not load out once more...that folder of my attention, would be pulled again, and deleted.  So, that was the very slow and long process at my end.  The final result is a very great running SU9/Enhanced Map/Newest BING,  and I'm pretty happy about the end result. Truly, I am flying now, 'over the real deal', at Ultra Plus, at 30 FPS.

My sentiments, exactly!  Today's flight between KSAN and KOAK,  'cemented' the suspended belief that I was NOT flying in my favorite window seat....man...I was THERE! 🙂

Truly having a blast John! 🙂

So for me....I'd have to say, again, for me...that P3D once more is my primary go to Flight Simulation platform. I do run up MSFS occasionally, but not so much anymore, as I am simply thrilled with the graphics of P3D v5.3HF2, as well as the full performance in FPS generation and animation fluidity.  No other sim...on my system...MSFS, XP11 (latest v),  can now match the absolutely stutter free, pause free,  virtual animation to simulate real life flight of an aircraft over ground terrain, as P3D v5.3 HF2  gives me.

So you have changed your mind in the last few months about MSFS?

Yep...we all have a right to change our minds...as events of use, and other realizations also change. 🙂

Mitch,

It's the reason why all other sims have been deleted from my SSDs. There's has never been nothing like it and I doubt that there will be anything better as long as I'm on earth.

BTW, check out Milviz c310 for MSFS. It's also as real as it gets.
