Real weather engines.

Recommended Posts

Guest BOPrey

Currently there are two real weather engines. One is available now (ASX) and other one is in the final stage development (Peter's weather engine). What I want to know is the support of gliding from these engines. Are the thermals placed in the correct location? What about ridge winds, and waves? Are these two left to the FSX engine to generate or the weather engines will attempt to generate them. Even every thing is correct. There is still an issue which is with the way FSX selects and places textures, thermals will show up at places where glider pilots won't expect them to be or no thermal at places where they are supposed to be. That leaves just one solution which is in conjunction with these real weather engines, the TileProxy is the only way to go if you are a glider pilot.

Can I then expect the thermals where they are supposed to be if photo real scenery is used?

Photo real scenery are textures. Give you an example: if you were able to get a small mountain photo to show up in the middle of an ocean would you expect a thermal? No, because the underlying terrain tile is ocean not mountain. Remember, that is what TP is: textures, not terrain like FS Genesis.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
