We are thrilled to announce that Microsoft Flight Simulator released the long-awaited “Top Gun: Maverick” expansion. Develop the skills required and navigate the complexities encountered by actual Top Gun pilots in authentic locations including the most challenging landing – on an aircraft carrier. This offering will push your piloting abilities to the limits—and beyond.

You can download the Top Gun: Maverick for free from the in-sim Marketplace now.

In case you missed it, check out yesterday’s Dev Q&A session now available on Youtube.

      • We fixed bugs and parsing errors.
    • Project Editor:
      • We fixed the ICAO selector that wasn’t closing when clicking on Cancel.
    • Scenery Editor:
      • We fixed the vector placement elevation.
      • We fixed the different undo/redo actions that were all merged together.
      • We fixed the zoom in Developer camera.
      • We fixed the runway warning “heading mismatch”.

TWITCH UPDATE

RainbowCanyon.png

We stream weekly on Twitch.tv/MSFSOfficial! The Top Gun: Maverick expansion is available now as a free download from the in-sim Marketplace! To celebrate the release of this DLC and the new Top Gun film in cinemas, this week’s Community Fly-In Friday will see us flying F/A-18 Super Hornets departing from Miramar, performing a touch & go landing at Edwards AFB, flying through the Rainbow Canyon (aka Star Wars Canyon), then continuing on to a full stop landing at Las Vegas. Click here to learn more. All are welcome to participate!

COMMUNITY VIDEO

One of the new features released in the free Top Gun: Maverick DLC is the Darkstar, Microsoft Flight Simulator’s first hypersonic scramjet. This unique aircraft requires some different flying techniques and procedures to reach speeds in excess of Mach 9, but thankfully YouTuber JetSimmer has posted a tutorial video on how to start the Darkstar from cold and dark, accelerate to Mach 3, then enable the scramjets and enter hypersonic flight. If you want to master this extremely fast plane, check out this video!

I thought Joerg said they are planning a longer beta than usual this time, and the beta should begin very soon?
