Fenix with Self loading cargo, Thinking of buying

From what I heard there were health issues. One of the mods of his forum for FSPax was in touch with Dan after he was supposed to port FSPax into 64bit. I recall he was undergoing cancer treatments. Over a year ago, maybe closer to 2.

2021 is later than 2020. He made addons for Orbiter after the release of MSFS; he could have made an FSPax mod for MSFS instead. So my point stands: I'm surprised he didn't jump on the MSFS band wagon and make $$$ off of it.

As an aside, Dan is notorious for years-long gaps in development. Remember the massive gap between FSPax and FSPassengersX? This is typical behavior from him.

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

Yeah... SLC stopped working for me a month or two ago and my reaction was "Oh well" and I deleted it. Lol.

"A week or two away." - This is the 5th time he's said that, so history shows he's lying, but what's shown looks really good.

A better dev would've released smaller updates over the years, but you can tell he feels version updates and hot-fixes are beneath him, much to his tattered reputation.

Edited to be a bit nicer.

Don't have a spare hour to spend watching. Anything else good to know for us in the tl;dr group, please?

Some developers just aren't very good at managing expectations on timelines and/or project management. While there could be personal issues or a lack of available time to make improvements, going silent for so long creates problems. It's a bit like Bijan and his trees.

Does anyone trust this developer to deliver on v1.6?

Nice find! This is really good news despite the massive massive delays

I’m not excusing his massively long delay but 1.6 is basically a 2.0. Majority of things have been rewritten from scratch you just physically do small updates for these sort of things. It’s like saying Fenix is below doing small updates during their V2 update

Pretty much everything from 1.55 has been thrown away and updated; I don't see much that survived untouched. A few of the features, but not nearly all of them:

- Voice control
- Cabin crew interaction system
- New Ground Crew interaction system
- Way smarter handling of cabin services
- New passenger satisfaction model which does away with percentages
- New door detection system; Both FSUIPC automatic and manual modes
- New, streamlined interface UI
- Many new voice events and scripts

Steve is very slow with his explanations and tends to spend 5-7 minutes explaining something as simple as "You can now make your own announcements!" but it's all very well done.

So the problem with Steve's method of development is that he lies. He came to this thread a year ago, apologized, then went right back to repeating the mistakes that garnered him so much vitriol.

In terms of development, there tend to be devs who release frequent small updates and devs who release infrequent large updates. If you choose the later, like Steve, you'd be very wise to be honest about progress. "I'm the only developer, and right now I'm expecting version 0.6 to be released in 15-30 months. This can change and I'll update you in 15 months. Have a great year!"

Instead Steve said "It's 10 days away!" in Feb 2021, then "It's 7 days away!" in June 2023.

He also got into fights with customers who called him out on this behavior. It's okay to defend your product if someone lies about it, but it's not okay to attack people, especially for very legitimate concerns. He's not the only FS dev to be aggressive: Aerosoft, FSLabs, and PMDG all have a reputation for being less than kind, but none of them have shut down their forums / discord and blocked all avenues of dialogue.

Fenix, which you brought up, has one of the best customer service reputations in Flight Sim, and it's entirely because they don't do any of the things Steve has done since Feb 2021. This post surely comes off as "a bit much" and typical Avsim-neck-bearding, but I think Steve's earned it, and I really hope he comes out from this black cloud and becomes one of the better devs for it.

Nope not at all, you make very very valid points about Steve's approach. It was definetely annoyed being sucked in by a timeframe only to be letdown multiple times. So yeah I agree with you that its fair to be cautiously optimistic. It's nice to know he hasn't gone completetly AWOL but I agree some kind of semblance of being alive throughout this period would've been nice. I hope this update brings back eyes on SLC and with this massive rewrite will bring more frequent smaller updates to keep the momentum going for SLC and hopefully come out of EA.

Come on guys how are people still talking about this? It's a scam. I'd rather bet my money on the QW787 releasing tomorrow...

I can admit I'm shocked he has been working on this at all but he has some nerve to say it's a week or two away 😂. He's trolling us so hard. And call it sour grapes but skimming though the video, I just don't like how he acted like this delay is no big deal.

Unless I missed it He didn't talk about any emergencies so im guessing those are still turned off. Also I was hoping he would add a career option. I don't like how the passenger mood is random every flight like in 1.6 and im basically spamming meals and drinks to make them happy.

If I'm being honest how many times do you want him to apologise? He's done it in every post he's done. How would you prefer to make a bigger deal about it. Steve deserves all the word not allowed he gets for how he's dealt with the situation however what more can he do? Apologise, put his head down and get to work, which from what we've been seeing in this last video, that's exactly what he's done. No use moping about currying favor when he could just finally release what he set out to do. that's just my opinion though I'm happy to read how others would suggest he deal with the situation.

He's apologized for the delay but to keep following up right after those apologies with the constant lies, promising dates and just glossing over that in his recent update doesn't sit well with me personally. It's been over 3 years? which is insane when you think about it
