Low FPS with Decent Hardware?

Awful advice when there's an actual issue going on. Akin to having your car smoke and sputter and then recommend you just close the hood and enjoy the drive.

guess  you missed  the  smiley at the  end of  the  post 🙂

Are you still having the issue? Do you get 20fps most of the time, or was it a one-off situation at a specific airport? Which aircraft? With your rig you *should* be able to get decent performance.

Anyway I wrote a guide a few days ago about MSFS performance and what to do if performance is low. Might be helpful.

Thank you for this, it really did help, got my frames to be about 60 fps now on average, great guide!

I recommend locking your fps at 30 and turn on vsync in Nvidia Control Panel.

mrcultureshock ur right on!!!  By the way don't be so hung up on frames, be more concerned about a smooth performance.  This is not a shooter or racing game, its a Sim, trust me I have been doing this like many others for over 20 years.

Thats's true. Smoothness first, then fps 🙂

I have my fps locked to 36 in Nivida control panel amongst other settings. Made a few tweaks within the sim and outside. My sim is now running flawlessly since doing so. I have however found that Avast anti virus causes MSFS to perform horribly when active, so I have to resort to disabling it when using MSFS. I also downloaded a program yesterday which was linked in a youtube video which says may fix the memory leak issue in the sim. I flew a good long flight yesterday and did not see any performance drops after a certain amount of time, so MSFS must have a memory leak.

I solved my issues for FPS loss by following someone on the msfs forums. No fancy Nvidia stuff. No ridiculous settings.

I just tuned my GPU-heavy settings all the way up, then tuned my LOD and TLOD down until I was no longer "main thread limited" for the most part. Set Vsync (in the sim!) to 30fps and couldn't be happier.

But alas....I wasnt...

I then deleted parts of photogrammy and it really helped my FPS. I did not delete or disable photogrammy. Instead, I selected World in the market place, selected most areas that said "3d cities" and deleted those except for the US.

Again, this is from the forums. Only deleting the photogrammetry cities really helped my FPS significantly in places like KJFK, Gatwick etc.
