Great, another government agency will take up the investigations, we are saved and all questions will be answered. 😂 

Actually, NASA is probably the one agency best suited for investigating UFO's and the possibility of extraterrestrial life.  They are still an official, government agency, so I don't expect to see additional answers or information regarding UFO's.

Yes that's true. With all the Earth observation satellites they have up there, monitoring the climate and all manner of things, they are well placed to spot something.

Spending no more than $100,000... err, sorry, but that wont achieve much. 

Unclassified investigation so they say... that means they'll find noting. 🙄

Back when commercial broadcast radio was invented in the 1920's the hobby magazines were full of articles about how signals from other planets would be soon heard. A hundred years of efforts with extremely more powerful new technologies. Nothing heard, nothing seen. How many experiments does it take before believing the negative results?

Hope springs eternal!  Wanting to believe is a strong aphrodisiac against negative results.  Especially when dozens of them are reportedly swarming over warships.

Or maybe they are playing tag with us and we are always 'it'.

Negative results don't mean there are no alien signals.

If aliens 200 light years away are sending a signal which dissipates into the background noise after 150 light years, we would never know. Or, if a narrow signal happens to be aimed at alpha Centauri, we would never know.

The criteria used by the aliens in deciding the direction of their signals could mean they never intentionally send a signal in our direction.

This says a lot, as in maybe a staff of 2 junior employees working on it for 6 months, if that.  Perhaps it's a project for summer interns.

Yes if their is actually a cover up this agency will just work in the best interest of the government, not the people

You are probably right. I'm sure you've heard about the new UFO task force. Well guess how many they employ to do all the in depth investigations they say they are going to do? That's right, it's literally TWO people.

All of this smells like, go through the motions, appease the public and Congress, reveal video like the green triangle that's already been identified as an airliner, don't reveal anything of significance.

So stand by for the same from NASA...

Well it has been confirmed there was a version of a cover up. They claimed they had no interest in UFO's... then of course Elizondo revealed that he was head of the AATIP that investigated UFO's. And now that's been admitted. After they tried to claim Elizondo wasn't of course, but Harry Reid confirmed he was.

Of course there is, the sheer amount of individual solar systems out there mean it’s statistically inevitable that life has evolved on other worlds.

Have any of them ever visited us? If you can get your head round the distances involved then you start to realise how incredibly unlikely that is.

It wasn't NASA I was referring to. I was referring to the UAP task force that was set up to investigate the phenomenon and report back to congress. But yes, the NASA team could well be as minimal.

I do agree with you that the distances involved are mindbogglingly huge, and given the limitations our current understanding of physics suggests, visitation by an extra-terrestrial species is unlikely. Unlikely, but not impossible. The Alcubierre Metric keeps being tweaked, and its now certainly looking like an Alcubierre warp drive isn't ruled out by physics. Whether its practical is the issue. And of course, we humans are just scratching the surface in terms of our understanding of the nature of reality, with dark energy and dark matter making up 95% of the universe and both currently a mystery to us.

In regard to the inevitability of life evolving somewhere else, then in regard to primitive life then yes, I think most scientists would agree. Where it gets more controversial is in terms of advanced technological life. Here on the Earth, primitive life appeared as soon as it was feasible but advanced technological life (us) took billions of years longer. In fact it took one quarter of the age of the entire universe for technological life to appear on this planet. Thus, many scientists think that the chances of advanced technological life existing in our galaxy is low to non-existent. 

However... there is a UFO/UAP phenomenon that's been at play for a very long time. In fact right back to the Romans who saw flying shields in the sky and strange figures in white suits. And in modern times we have strange objects appearing over nuclear missile silos and shutting down missiles and in Russia activating missiles. More recently of course we have aircraft carriers encountering mysterious objects that seem to outperform our jets. 

So yes, there is a phenomenon at play that should be investigated. Even if it's just in terms or air safety, with mysterious objects that pilots say are cubes within transparent spheres passing within 50 feet of F18's. If this were just a recent unsubstantiated handful of eye witness reports I would agree with you that to investigate is a waste of time and money, but the phenomenon is much more significant than that.

Not a very effective distraction then. I think we are all still aware double digit inflation is a thing. 

Genuine events have taken place, throughout history, that seem to suggest that a phenomenon we don't understand is at play. And that's what scientific investigation should be all about, investigating mysterious phenomenon and trying to explain it.

Just imagine if the object that was witnessed by David Fravor and others during the Nimitz encounter was indeed an adversaries technology that was vastly more advanced than ours, and we ignored it, said it was a waste of time to investigate, and just sat back and allowed the balance of power to crumble.
