Anyone tried the mod to use google map instead of Bing?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

there are few videos around of people starting to use google instead of bing for MFS2020. It looks awesome on video on youtube. Any of you guys played around with this? What is your conclusion so far if you did?

Thanks

Yeah, it's great when it works but there's plenty of areas, especially outside the US, where you'll see a lot of inconsistencies, massive colouration differences between areas and some countries are downright terrible, like NZ.

So it can be very hit and miss but when it hits, it's superb.

Transforms the sim.

Just downloaded it today, and impressed so far. Flying the  Milviz 310 down the Portuguese coast was stunning.

Some advantages, just as many disadvantages. Not worth it in my opinion.

Also you'll be doing everyone else a favor by offloading traffic from the default Bing servers.

Interestingly flying on west coast of British Columbia I find that there are large areas where the scenery is just textured stuff and not ortho of any description. And also same thing around Great Bear Lake where I do some bush flying.  Google is much better in those areas in my view.

Yes, more up to date and sharper than default.

I can't believe you have tried the latest version when you can state that.

Very difficult for me to fly without Google Map!

Is it possible a link? How about in VR?

Been using it and every update to it for over 6 months.  Have YET to find a disadvantage.

I highly recommend trying it. For my area, google imagery is sharper and newer.
