ChasePlane Static views

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm putting my question here after a try opening two ticket to ChasePlane Support. Mr. Edson C. Soriano says that there is a problem on my side (and I'm aware of it) and all the support they can give is to say "there's a problem on your side".  As they should know how the product works I expect them to at least say "try this, check that ...". Instead none of this. I am really disappointed with the quality of the support provided.

So here is the problem:

I'm on P3D v4.5 HF 3 and last version of ChasePlane (v.1.2.58). I would like to use the static cameras generated automatically by ChasePlane in the airports in order to have the views from the runway starts so I regenerated the airport data then opened P3D. I have chosen a default airport (LIML) and after loading the sim a view of a lake or sea appears on the monitor that has nothing to do with the airport.

So, after opening a ticket to //42 support (including the Report File) and received a no help response, I did other tests by randomly taking some default airports around the world (RUCN, LIRN, KPHL, KMEM, ZSPD, RJNK). Before the test I regenerated the airport data in ChasePlane. In all airports the behavior is the same: the static cameras always show a place in the middle of a lake or sea. Since I think the program works (and once it worked for me too) I thought that the problem may be due to something corrupt in the ChasePlane installation so within Orbx Central I checked ChasePlane's files. So I redid the tests but without success. I would like to point out that I activate P3D and Chaseplane too in Administrator mode, the installation folder is C:\Program Files\Parallel 42\ChasePlane (drive C is on a M2 SSD) and that I have set the exclusion on Windows Defender for ChasePlane.exe and C:\Users\<MyUser>\AppData\Roaming\Parallel 42\ChasePlane\ChasePlane_Bridge.exe. P3D is installed in a separate M2 SSD. Also airports data are re-generated after the regeneration. Finally I tried to regenerate the cameras.cfg file getting only the change of view (it looks like a Norwegian fjord).

Has anyone had this problem and was able to identify and fix it?

Thanks a lot to anyone who wants to help me.

Alessandro

Hi,

I did a deeper analisys on this issue and (in my case) I've found a workaround.

Since ChasePlane was running smoothly some time ago I thought about what changes I had made on my system. Actually a few months ago I had installed AIG AI Manager for AI traffic management, getting rid of UTLive. Looking at the folder structure of the AIGAIM-OCI add-on, I noticed the presence of an Airports folder that contains the scenery folder which contains 7 .bgl files.

So I went through these steps:

  1. Open P3D
  2. On initial screen I chose Add-Ons button and deactivated AIGAIM-OCI add-on, then OK
  3. On initial screen I chose Scenery button and checked that the two AIGAIM-OCI items were deactivated
  4. Load the sim at any airport with any aircraft
  5. Once loaded then closed the sim
  6. Open P3D and loaded again
  7. Open ChasePlane, flushed shaders and reloaded airports data
  8. Now statics views are working again
  9. Close ChasePlane and P3D
  10. Reopen P3D
  11. On initial screen I chose Add-Ons button and activated AIGAIM-OCI add-on, then OK
  12. On initial screen I chose Scenery button and checked that the two AIGAIM-OCI items were activated
  13. Load the sim at any airport with any aircraft
  14. Once loaded then closed the sim
  15. Open P3D and loaded again
  16. Open ChasePlane, flushed shaders and reloaded airports data
  17. Statics views show me a lake/sea/fijord.

So, in my case, the workaround is: do not reload airports data in ChasePlane (and may be flush shaders but I'm not sure of this) when AIGAIM-OCI is enabled. A suggestion for a ChasePlane modification might be not to include in the scan the objects in the AIGAIM-OCI Airports\scenery folder (but this is for the //42 developers).

Hope this can help!

Cheers,

Alessandro
