MSFS 2022 Freezes After "P" is Pressed

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Just getting familiar with MSFS 2022,  I was flying the Cessna 152 with no problems when I wanted to pause the sim. I pressed the "P" key. I forgot that the new sim uses "Pause Break" key instead of the "P" key. The sim paused completely with no sound. I pressed P again and tried different keys but nothing worked. I exited with the ESC key, and went back to the previous  screen, then tried to go back to the flight. The flight resumed, but with no sound. i tried several times but could not get sound back. I had previously changed a few bindings on the yoke when I first got the sim but nothing else.

I have Thrustmaster pedals and a CH Products yoke.  Thanks.  Tom

Problem solved.  Thank you!

Can you tell us how you solved it Tom?  I had this once and just pressed lots of keys until it came back, but I don't  know the proper answer.

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

For some reason Asobo mapped it so that the unpause key is not the same as the pause key 🤦‍♂️

To be honest, after two years, I still haven't understood the "active pause" and why anyone would use this compared to the regular pause function that can also be bound to a key.

The main difference is that with active pause, you can still rotate the camera and explore the cockpit and/or scenery without fear of the aircraft crashing. On regular pause, the menu will open and you can't do that.

The menu comes up with the ESC key, but by pressing P (regular pause), the sim freezes and you can still rotate the camera and explore the cockpit. I guess the main difference is that with the Pause key (active pause) the aircraft systems are still running and you can press buttons, only the aircraft won't move.

Well, I didn't know about this one. I only use ESC as pause.

That is nice if you use a switch button - one way to pause and the other eay to unpause. Works perfect on my Bravo throttle quadrant.

I use the Select and Start buttons on my throttle. Still annoying, I could use select for something else if unpause didn't need a seperate command.
