The wonders of nature

Recommended Posts

As every year in central Italy in Umbria in the plain of Castelluccio di Norcia located at about 1300 above sea level in the Sibillini Mountains Park,  between June and July depends on the weather conditions, spontaneous flowering occurs due to the cultivation of the precious lentil which has the characteristic to be very small, without peel and cooks in about 45 minutes.

This cultivation is strictly done without weeding, and it is precisely for this reason that this spectacular flowering takes place which makes the plan like a huge color palette that is visited during the three weeks of flower life by thousands of
visitors.

Unfortunately the small village of Castelluccio di Norcia in 2016 was almost destroyed by a violent earthquake measuring 6.8 but despite this the lentil farmers, with enormous sacrifices, have never interrupted the cultivation of the lentil fields
nature knows this there.

In this 4K video you can admire the spectacle of this flowering:

Of course, your thanks are for this ... nature in collaboration with the growers!😁

In this link of the Municipality of Norcia, scrolling down under "Webcam" and clicking on the three images you can see the real-time situation of the flowering of this year which is starting in these days.

It is considered by many to be a small piece of Heaven on Earth which gives a sense of peace which is much needed, especially in
this period.

Thankyou Rob.  After all the debate about space and interstellar travel it's comforting to see something natural and down to earth and pretty as the blooming of the lentils.

There's so much natural beauty in the world to appreciate we'd be remiss if we didn't pay homage to mother Earth.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

A less cheerful lintel tale..

Yes, a raven, sometimes quiet, whom we used to much adore! Who now stays sitting upon the lintel, high above our chamber door. Casting grey and colorless shadows which lie floating on the floor.

That's Lentil, as in bean!  Not Lintel, as in ledge in a window or door!  🤔

Thanks to you Noel for your kind words, while I have always considered being on board for all the days of my life on the best airline in the world and that is the... Terra Airways that use only one wonderful plane capable of... billions of places that is flying at the modest speed of about... 107,000 km/h, around the Sun but all this is better not to tell those who are ... afraid of flying!😁

With the respect and care of man for Nature we are rewarded with many wonderful shows in many places in the world, but if instead the man for his interests and ... profits it does not matter at all to cure and preserve this Nature we come severely punished.

If this video has shown how we are rewarded if man respects Nature, here is the downside of what is currently happening throughout Italy when man does not respect and works to protect Nature.

Even in Italy, despite the mountain range of the Alps and the Apennines, about 2500 km long which, together with the rainfall and the melting of the snow, have always ensured substantial water supplies well these days we are experiencing and seeing what drought means in all Italy.

The very scarce rains of the past winter to date associated with temperatures above 5°C above the seasonal averages as well as reducing the glaciers more and more, starting with the Po river, the longest in Italy, all rivers are dry with very serious damage to agriculture due to lack of water.

Unfortunately escaped ... the oxen from the stable, those who had to look at them begin to understand the gravity of the situation and the bans on the use of water are falling but if the rains continue to fail I fear that, in addition to the Covid pandemic which unfortunately here in Italy is in worrying recovery, we will also have to fight for the drought.

In this video the dramatic situation of the Po river, the longest in Italy.

Not only in Italy Rob.  Here in the American Southwest we are approaching a drought crisis.  Not only lask of water for thirsty cities but also larger forest fires that destroy thousands of acres of trees.

I know the topic is nature but let's end the discussion about Climate Change (highly politicized).
