Ahh...I see you're from Norway....I already painted your Country's P-8 (well...maybe a P-7.5, LOL).  If you enjoy maritime patrol flying, she's the bird for you. (Love your Country's roundel (emblem)...I had to recreate it from scratch since there seemed to be no exact version of it anywhere... a lot were close, but not what was represented on this bird) 🙂

So new that they are still only doing touch & go's 🙂

10/10 for enthusiasm, but this place would be kind of boring if every post had to be like that. Would make RSR happy, though. 🙂

Lol dunno, kind of creepy - but see those sort of posts on FB all the time (not necessarily PMDG related).

Good to see the patch out and glad they've seen sense and finally stopped the pursuit of cockpit texture modders.

This topic is about the PMDG update. It appears to have morphed into multiple posts complaining about PMDG’s actions in protecting their copyright. Those people have said plenty on that subject. Time to draw a line and stick to the topic title.

Any further posts referring to copyright will be hidden.

I have a beef with your Country Ray!

As noted in my post about the RAF P-8 repaint...why do you guys have to be different from everyone else? 🤣  I've spent more time on the RAF P-8 paint than all others combined...even the Indian one with the Hindi text!

Even the over wing exit markings are different than all the others 🤬:

Anyway....she's about to be released as I think I've fiddled with her long enough.  You get to that point when painting a series...I think I've done all I can to make it as accurate as possible. 🙂

Apologies from my government Steve. 😉 Nice work as usual.

Hehe...love that note in the AGE box "Brand New" 😄   My paint is brand new as well...you should pick her up from Renton and fly her back home. 🙂

When I was in the Navy, we did an joint exercise with the Norwegian Armed Forces off of Bodo.  Amphib assaults and other stuff....still remember sitting on the ship off the coast, watching Norwegian F-16s fly low through the fjords...was very cool!

Here is a shot of an unwelcomed visitor, being escorted by an F-14.  The USSR was constantly testing just how close they could get to our task force before we shoo'd them away. 🙂

Thanks. I'm not even going to reply to the other posts with differing opinions because they will always think they're right and defend their opinion no matter what.  I was replying back when I trashed the text, saying that I agree that the appearance of what PMDG was doing regarding the EULA, certainly looked like a *ick move, but in my opinion, they were justified and didn't do it out of malice or they were just being "were being narcissistic control freaks".

This topic is a good example of perpetual motion as it will never be fully agreed on by both sides until at least time ends, and maybe a few weeks longer. 🙂
I'm just not going to try anymore, not worth it.  As you mentioned, the "work I do" is a contribution to this community of more that just words and opinions (not that there is anything wrong with that), and I'm choosing to bow out and get back to that work...in fact I'm getting ready to release repaint 25 on the PMDG 737....been on a P-8 wannabe kick so have been painting them for all the countries that fly them....the RAF is out next.  This one was tough because only the RAF decided they wanted yellow markings and a shadow "RESCUE" arrow.  That took some work to get right. 🤪

I like the Indian version the best so far:  I had to draw the ARK by hand and the Hindi text was a bear too...but in the end I think it was worth it. 🙂

Thanks....In reality when we look at the big picture, we're all just passionate simmers in one form or another.   Our opinions can vary as much as the the type of simming we like to do, be it GA, Airliners, Bush, etc.

I know some here will find it hard to believe, but I actually admire simmer's commitment to their opinion, and respect their right to voice it.  It can be "Spirited" to say the least. 🙂   But when you find yourself on one side, and your side gets a "win", in this case in the form of PMDG taking action and doing something positive for the entire community, you'd hope those on the other side would just say, like our Aussie friends "Good on ya' Mate!"

Since some here like to state how PMDG should communicate...literally typing What PMDG should have written:, I'll do the same for them and really wish, in the spirit of camaraderie, they would have just replied "This is encouraging news.  I still have reservations and opinions on other PMDG fallacies, but this is a positive step in the right direction."

See.....not fun when someone on the "other" side puts words in your mouth, huh? 🙂

All this drama over a small 737 update.  I just came here looking for some liveries.  Anybody know someone who makes them?😁

Steve, I'm a firm believer that spirited discussion is a good thing. I disagree with half of what you just wrote, but some of it I'd agree with.

I won't go as far as "funny" for the last point, but you can have "mildly amusing" I guess. 😉

OK, hatchet buried.

Back to flying the PMDG 737 (me) and painting the darn thing (you).

Cheers!

Agreed (virtual handshake).....I have to ask though...do you fly any of my paints? 🙂  If you did I was going to trigger the software hidden in all my paints to automatically erase all my paints on your drive.🤣

Speaking of paints....(you know I can't resist spamming ONE more...consider this a release announcement)....packaging this one up now.

RAF P-8 wannabe up on flightsim.to in a few mins

And BTW,

I imagine your Country of origin is Australia or New Zealand based on your name?   Either way...my next P-8 wannabe paint is for you folks "Down Under". 😉  (if you're not from there....well, I'm painting her anyway, and I think at that point I'm done painting the P-8 for every Country that flies her.)

Actually.....with the advent of MSFS...the painters literally came crawling out of the virtual woodwork!   I'm just one in a small list of painters out there. 🙂   My 26th paint will be number 904th MSFS 737 livery at flightsim.to (unless more get uploaded while I'm packaging the paint for release....a task I dread because there is a LOT of work involved, but you gotta' do the admin part too...you can't just "paint").

I'm probably the only painter left of the "old guard" here that routinely participates in these discussions.

Trust me...you have to step away from a paint every once in a while....I insanely think that posting here is a distraction from that, LoL.  I'm in therapy for it though. 🤣

All this drama because PMDG - which is eight guys working out of their basements - think they will lose everything they have worked on, because of this new thing they just learned about called "mods".

Meanwhile, at Microsoft/Bethesda/Rockstar/Valve HQs right now: "Omg! Did you hear what PMDG just learned? Why did our lawyers not tell us this?!? Why does only PMDG get the best lawyers?? WE ARE RUINED!"

😉

Also, none of the drama in this thread is to do with the update post of the title. I checked, and there is precisely ONE post relating to the actual update - back on page 1, post #2, where Sniper says "Nice!" Not really all that dramatic, tbh.

Just got this related to the update so hopefully it is resolved quickly:  Oh wait am I in the wrong place to actually talk about the update?  😉

this is an important NOTAM (notice to airmen) regarding PMDG's latest update for the 737 for MSFS!

A number of you have been reporting a dark screen in aviaCDU after updating to PMDG's latest version. As it would seem right now, the data broadcasting interface has been broken by their latest release. My recommendation at this point would be to open a ticket with PMDG's support system to get this rectified as quickly as possible. Hopefully, this will allow them to collect enough data to troubleshoot and identify what is causing this. Note - P3D/FSX users are not affected by this topic.

If you are affected, I recommend you to also follow the support forum: https://www.avsim.com/forums/forum/742-remote-cdu-for-phone-tablet-official-support-forum/.

As soon as the issue has been identified and resolved, a follow-up to this NOTAM will follow.

I'm sorry about this as I understand this can cause quite some frustration but I hope a remedy will follow in due course!
