I thought my EVGA 3080TI was a beast, this i7-12700K is a monster lol. Leave the HT on - you'll cripple your systems performance with it off. I have a 12600KF and it barely breaks a sweat when running FS2020, even with the Fenix. Same motherboard as you. Intel Core i5-12600k, Nvidia RTX 4070 Super, 128 Gigs.

Thank you, I must admit the 12700K definitely is not pushed that hard lol It is probably overkill for me. I did consider the 12600K but I figured for the extra relatively low investment I would go for the i7. From what I am seeing I am pretty sure the 12600K would have been just as good. Are you running with virtualization on or off? that is another one I keep reading about. So far all I have done is enable the XMP profile for my DDR4 3600, I do not see any need to overclock the i7, my temps are in the mid 60's. I still have to experiment to see what I can get with no fps lock in place, with the Fenix I have just left the fps @ 30 for now and everything is maxed out including the TLOD & OLOD and it is solid as a rock. Even my 3080TI has plenty of headroom. I should have some time this weekend to experiment and see what I can achieve, from what others have said I am not sure I will be able to sustain 60fps in the Fenix even with my new rig. My challenge will be I am using a plain old 43 inch 4K TV that does not have gsync so from what I have seen in the past it is either maintaining 60fps for lesser demanding aircraft but staying with 30fps for more demanding aircraft and scenery. Either way I am super happy with the way the sim is performing and looking right now. This upgrade has been a long time coming but worth the wait. More CPU or GPU power is always a good thing. If you can afford it, go for it. I have everything to do with CPU settings at default. XMP is on and CPU temps around 35 to 40 - I use a 240 mm AIO. I use a 43 inch 4k TV as well and lock FPS at 30. Less tweaking and more flying is my advice. 😄 Intel Core i5-12600k, Nvidia RTX 4070 Super, 128 Gigs.

I think I am more curious than anything lol Those are nice temps, I did consider trying an AIO again but decided to stick with the Noctua NH-D15S. My TV is able to use 30Hz as a refresh rate and with the sim locked at 30fps it is silky smooth, I know there will be some comments about what is the point of having high end hardware and locking the frames to 30, for me in the Fenix with my new rig I set everything I could to max and the sim looks incredible so the upgrade was worth it because I could not do that before. Looking forward to some low and slow flying this weekend to really enjoy the beauty of this sim 🙂 Richard i7-12700K | Noctua NH-D15S Black Version | MSI Pro Z690 - A | 32 GB DDR4 3600 | Gigabyte Gaming OC 4090 | 1TB WD Blue NMVe (MSFS 2020) | 500 GB WD Black Gen 4 NVMe | 4TB WD Black Conventional | Fractal Design Torrent Case | Seasonic 1000W Gold Plus PSU | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Honeycomb Throttle | Airbus Side Stick | Virpil Rudder Pedals | Sony X90K 55 Inch TV |

Looking forward to some low and slow flying this weekend to really enjoy the beauty of this sim 🙂 I keep my TV at 60 Hz otherwise desktop apps feel sluggish to interact with then I use the sim Vsync at 30 FPS since my GPU certainly doesn't have the horsepower to do 60 FPS 4k. All Nvidia settings at default and sim graphic settings based on the High preset but with some tweaks here and there for a bit more eye candy. A nice little tool to download is the Intel Power Gadget from the Intel site. It gives you a view of your CPU power consumption, frequency, utilisation and package temp. If you're using the Balanced power preset in Windows you'll probably see your CPU clocking down on occasion in the sim because the utilisation is so low. AIOs are nice if you're running a variable CPU load application since the fans only ramp up very slowly as the water in the loop warms up. Downside is that if the system has been running for a while the fans stay ramped for a while when your system is idle. That assumes that the AIO is using water temperature as a control though. For the Fenix I'm using Render Displays on CPU, Displays Multithreading ticked and Higher Res Cockpit Textures and it runs well. Intel Core i5-12600k, Nvidia RTX 4070 Super, 128 Gigs.

Thanks for the info, I have been using Hwinfo to keep an eye on things after the rebuild but will check out the Intel Power Gadget. I only use my PC for my flight sim so in the past leaving the refresh rate at 30Hz wasn't an issue. When I first changed to this 4K TV I spent quite a bit of time dialing the settings in to get the best result I could with my hardware at the time and never touched things after, it is definitely worth spending some time doing this as it pays dividends in the long run. I have found MSFS 2020 to be very reliable and consistent and is now my flight sim of choice. If you have previously used Addons linker and as I did installed Windows on a new machine if you do not backup the folder when you re install the program you will have to go through and setup all your aircraft profiles from scratch.
