Other than occasional flight deck visits by my cats, I have never encountered an animal in MSFS.

No. And I've never seen airplanes in Planet Zoo.

Well, to answer the question, no.  I have only seen animals  when I did a Botswana flight or two for the purposes of seeing them.

But I don’t think that’s weird.  The planes that most people fly and the places they generally fly them would generally preclude animal encounters.  Add to that, most of the time, you are at an altitude where they would be hard to notice, even if they are there.

This being a flight sim, I find their inclusion a little strange.  Large migratory birds, yes.  Bears? Not so sure, but whatever, it’s cool.

Never spotted any "spontaneously" but seen loads in places they have done safari type mods for.

Having to abort a landing as a herd of Elephants decided to cross the runway in Okavango Delta was one of my most memorable MSFS moments!

Unless you count cat on keyboard induced diversion from stable flight - no not really.

In real life, down here in OZ, a low flyby to chase roo's and sheep off a grass strip is sort of mandatory in many areas

I noticed the recent Trent Palmer FAA case in the US has some people suggesting it sets a precedent that makes flyby runway inspections below 500' illegal now in the US ?  Seems counterproductive..

I can so relate to the puppy jumping on your lap when rotating. I get a cat pushing my legs on one side of me and my dog on the other demanding affection when I take off sometimes.  🙂

My little Shih Tzu loved to nap in my lap on many of my flights... he's gone now, sure do miss that. 😞

My own answer is no. The only animals I've encountered were those I deliberately sought to find.

Actually, I did, and that was even right on release day, IIRC. I was streaming for some friends, finally able to show them MSFS (after having to keep quiet about it during the Alpha) and they were requesting flights in various areas of the globe. Someone requested a flight through Yosemite National Park, and there were some bears around. 🙂

EDIT: I found the post from August 18th 2020:
