[Build] New build, opinions, advices needed

Recommended Posts

Hello Simmers,

Hope everyone are ok.

I'm plannig a new build 90% for MSFS2020 connected to a 35 UW Monitor, LG35WN65C (3440x1440). Latter i don't know yet if i will change it for a 4K 50"Tv, but for now it's this.

I saw a lot of threads and some youtube videos and i reached 2 builds and now i need to understand pros and cons of eah one.

 Build 1:

Intel i9 12900KF

Corsar 4000D Airflow

Corsair H115i Capellix

Corsair RMx 1000w

Corsair Vengeance Pro SL 4x16GB 300Mhz Cl18 DDR4

Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Elite DDR4

Gigabyte RTX 3080TI Gaming OC

Seagate Barracuda 4TB

Corsair ML140mm Pro (x2)

It's better to stay on DDR4 memories and save some money ou go to DDR5 (more expensive)?

Build 2:

AMD Ryzen 3800X3D

Corsar 4000D Airflow

Corsair H115i Capellix

Corsair RMx 1000w

Corsair Vengeance Pro SL 4x16GB 300Mhz Cl18 DDR4 for AMD

MSI MEG B550 Unify-X (Used but with warranty from a store in my country)

Gigabyte RTX 3080TI Gaming OC

Seagate Barracuda 4TB

Corsair ML140mm Pro (x2)

So 12900k ou 3800X3d? What do you think simmers?

NOTE: i have 1 ssd m.2 WD SN750 Nvme 1TB and 1 ssd m.2 Kingston A2000 512gb to install in the new build.

Thank you in advance for your opinions.

Regards,

Ricardo

I would go with the AMD CPU. Cut down your RAM to 32Gb and use the savings for a M.2 SSD. I think you are hamstringing performance with a mechanical hard drive. Check this out -- https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/cpu-hierarchy,4312.html

I'm on DDR5 and its not without issues. I'm having to run with XMP off. Did improve with a latest update, but still crashes. I don't mind running for a while with XMP off, my performance is still huge, but its something you might want to consider.

For what it’s worth….Just bought a new PC a month ago

i9 12900k

EVGA 3080TI

Lian Li 011 Case

32GB DDR5 6000 hz

1000w PS

Lian Li SL120 fans

Never have seen below 50 FPS (locked) using that exact same monitor running 3440 x 1440. I also overclocked to 5.2GHz and temps between 40-60 when using MSFS.

All the normal payoff aircraft/scenery.

I'd get the lower right system.  12900K / RTX 3080 Ti

But honestly if you can find one of those AMD 3D CPUs it may be better for a bit less cost:  https://www.amd.com/en/products/cpu/amd-ryzen-7-5800x3d

I bought a 12700K and am using my old RTX 1080 Ti still at 2K res and its very nice.  SU9 screwed up the performance a little but I still get 30-40 fps with ultra settings.  Without video card my system was fresh components including cost of new case and Windows 11 - about 2100 USD.  I hope the GPU prices fall a bit - I'm holding out for a 40xx card but concerned the 850W psu won't be up to the task of the high end cards.
