In MSFS You're Not A Person, You're A Camera

Nothing, I suppose. But to me the fascinating question is, is there anything more that can be said on this topic, beyond the 11 pages worth that's already recorded? (I am sure there will be more ...)

I know i yak on about this from time to time 😁 (FWIW i  am an ai,atc, weather, sl airplane person first of all). That said the original thread statement could arguably be said to bring to mind the build of avatars, virtual co-pilots, passengers (all real people controlled ).

That is could be interesting. Not just seeing avatars (for want of a better word) but what is everyone else seeing . Its been happening in other games for a few years already, at least i thought it had.

I don't mind if they add in this feature of allowing you to do a walk around. I would imagine A2A would have something like that, though if I remember correctly, it was all menu based in P3D and it could very well be that way in MSFS.

In terms of why so many people came off as dismissive, I find that happens largely due to the tone of the OP. As someone stated, using hyperbole, or ill-informed statements, to form criticisms is generally not a good way to start.

It isn’t mandatory to reply. 😉

Sure…

That is also similar to the “standard” replies of “you don’t have to use this sim», «you can always go back to P3D” or “you don’t have to be on AVSIM”.

"Wasting time" on this topic or this game or this hobby doesn't change the fact that the Ocean's will boil away, the stars will die, and the cosmos will suffer a long and boring redshift into nothingness. So what do we really lose by enjoying our time here together? 🙂

I think I was mostly referring to the meaningless bickering. The topic itself is okay. Otherwise I wouldn’t have spent time going through 12 pages 😉

Doesn't matter either way, thanks to genius freeware addon devs we get all these cool features eventually.

A BOB/3d ped avatar addon is bound to happen, just how houses, cars and boats addons eventually surfaced, and it isn't anything you all can do about it.😛

We will continue to use and enjoy the sim engine in any way possible individually, complaining and whining about what certain users want to do in the sim will continue to be useless.

MS/Asobo are very open minded about this new sim obviously (Halo Spaceships) and aren't going to block us in anyway from being creative with the sims versatility, if you don't like it tough. 🤣

Assuming a mod that simply fixes the drone camera at a user-given height above solid surfaces and then maintains that height depending on where the camera is moved would pretty much do the job?

Aren’t you talking about yourself, rka and Ricardo41 ?

Did you see how many people agreed with my first post in this thread ? Then look at how many have agreed with you posts ….

Makes you think don’t it …. ?

Makes me think you're desperate for that kind of validation and why you see the need to bring up your setup every five minutes. I hope it didn't break your heart seeing more people liking my assesment of you while no one cared about what you just said.

But I forgive you as you are a newbie around here …

You have proven you don't know aviation and real world procedures.

If you did fly in real life you aircraft would crash due to reckless abandon of maintenance, inspections, procedures and requirements. If you did survive the crash authorities would strip you of your license. So keep simming in MSFS. That is safer for everyone 😆

Can we please stop the squabble? This thread should be about avatars not ego's.

MSFS has given me more immersion than any other flightsim since Falcon 3.0, so I don't agree with the OP that being unable to walk in the sim is an immersion killer.
However, if Asobo or a third party would make this possible I would applaud this and might even purchase an addon. The main reason for me is for being able to do proper walkarounds but combined with a career addon it might also just add to the fun,

Wether we call MSFS a game or a simulator, most of us are using it for fun and everything that increases the fun is a bonus IMHO.

@orchestra_nl Avatars is another major potential area that could be exploited fully if done so correctly, we all know by now about the "Metaverse" that's gonna be here (one day). In the meantime the ability to not just walk around with your own "body" but see your mates hanging out in one of the detailed terminal buildings having a chat would be great, before you all wander off through customs and jump in a Shared Cockpit experience or something - tell me that wouldn't be cool!

I've long since dreamt of a similar scenario in Racing Sims, meet for the drivers briefing then all wander down Pit Straight at Le Mans and all have a running race to the cars for the classic race start! Essentially VR (which would bring Avatars to life so to speak) is practically limitless in what it could achieve as long as the dreams & visions are there anything is possible, no reason why MSFS couldn't one day turn into it's own "Metaverse".
