Lost all my default airport servicesThis may (or may not) be

Featured Replies

This may (or may not) be PMDG/737 related (as it uses its own airport services), but I've suddenly lost all my airport services (at all airports). Things I have tried:

1) Set all airport, road traffic to 100%.

2) Disabled ALL my community add-ons - though the 737 was installed in the Community folder by default. I'm on the MS Store version, so it's very difficult to copy Community folders to a kocation outside of the MS protected folder. Currently, I only have the DC-6 and 737 in there.

3) Removed AirportServices from the OneStore location then allowed MSFS to re-download them on the next restart.

4) Did a Windows repair on MSFS.

None of the above has fixed the issue. I still have the PMDG tug etc. (so at least that works!) but no marshallers or generic ground vehicles.

It was all working well until around the time I started experimenting wih default Cold & Dark states. Is that a coincidence?

Anyone else have this problem - or have any suggestions?

It's probably an addon airport in your community or official folder. Remove sequentially the airports you have installed one by one, starting with the last one,  until you find the culprit. You also need to delete your content.xml at each stage. At least, when this has happened to me an addon airport has been the cause.

I second this. Check the recent additions made to your CF and start with them one by one. I had the same issue time ago and the culprit was at the time a recently added freeware airport.

Thanks, chaps - but my item 2) says I disabled all addons. For good measure, I also renamed "Community" to "Community_BAK". Still no luck :-((((

I'm wonering what other folders I should be clearing?

Hmmm.. Did you delete your Content.xml and Scenery Indexes? Also have you bought any airports from the Marketplace which will be in your Official folder? Apparently this issue is usually due to an incorrectly compiled Airport Services sub folder within the offending airport. My amateur opinion is that there is a lot of hysteresis within this sim with regard to the data it stores on the cloud and that there needs to be an option not to use it and for data to be stored locally.

Aha! That's the step I was forgetting to do, thanks!!!

I now have my services back - but still need to check they appear at all my usual airports. I'll also gradually re-enable my add-ons to see which one(s) caused the problem.

Thanks to all who helped out - Avsim is so great for this!

If/when you figure it out please post the offending item.   Always useful info for someone.

Absolutely - yes. BTW: One additional step I didn't mention was to uninstall/reinstall LOWI and YSSY Then I removed them again, as I have ORBX LOWI and YSSY).

They're still de-activated and my services still work.

look for Services.spb in your official/community folder

The offending one should be a Services.spb that is not into

AddonName/AirportServices/ICAOcodeOfTheAddon/Services.spb

Except the default Asobo one of course!

Every Services.spb outside of its ICAO or misspelled path overrides the default one, and the default one has control over all the airports..this it the reason why a incorrect services.spb can the a threat!

Thanks also. I did that check originally, but no harm doing another search - you never know!!!

Out of curiosity I scanned my sceneries just to see if I had a problem or not and found 2 sceneries that were not strictly following the format you wrote:

  • ..\Community\pushbackstudio-airport-ycab\AirportServices\pushbackstudio-airport-ycab\
  • ..\Community\pushbackstudio-airport-yred\AirportServices\pushbackstudio-airport-yred\

Does this mean I could have an issue too?
Can I just rename the folders or do I have to change references to these files in these sceneries?

Update: I found reference in the layout.json files for these sceneries. Can I safely change these?

The path in those sceneries differes from the suggested SDK paths, thus can lead to issue according to the actual content of the .spb

Maybe they have defined no pushback carts in specific parking types, wich is adviceable for small grass strips, so given the path not being "standard", could affect every parking type with those specification

Of course a good idea is to change

The path like this

Community\pushbackstudio-airport-yred\AirportServices\YRED\

and making the changes to the layout.json to (maybe with msfslayougenerator.exe, sweet utility)

Relevant SDK info are here

https://docs.flightsimulator.com/html/Content_Configuration/Environment/Living_World/Airport_Services/Airport_Services.htm?rhhlterm=Services.spb&rhsearch=Services.spb

As a plus, i had recently a talk with Asobo devs at devsupport, there are some errors in the samples they provided, so it is not always 3rd party developer faults ,😊

Just an update, folks. I've checked all my addons that come up with AirportServices in the search. All of them follow the AirportServices\[ICAO] format.

I've been re-enabling the addons in small blocks and clearing content.xml and am pleased to say my airport service remain working (YAY!). If I do nail the culprit, Ill post here!
