2. the altitude window never ever is 'blank' and ALWAYS shows the set altitude

Actually, you need to set the initial climb altitude you were assigned by ATC. Until you input this altitude, it will default to 100 feet. As you stated, it's never blank.

On a side note I wonder why Airbus decided to set the default altitude so low (100ft) as opposed to say, 1000ft? If a pilot should happen to forget to set it and not catch it initially100ft is dangerously low. And past accidents have shown us that sometimes pilots can make some pretty basic mistakes, like forgetting to set the flaps for takeoff, or not turning on anti-ice when taking off in a snow storm. Perhaps Airbus should have it trip a takeoff config. warning if it's left at it's default setting.

Well followed checklists usually prevent these types of mistakes.  That being said I still don't know what my problem is with everything but 'Cold Startup' but hey at least I'm up and running.😏

Before you take off in an airliner, ATC has to give you your initial  altitude to climb too. 100 feet is not an initial altitude..

Correct, I was talking about the other things he listed like forgetting to set flaps and not turning on anti-ice (KDFW and KDCA to be more specific to the accidents).

When you press the takeoff check, errors will show up there..

I think you forgot how an airliner takes off. You don't takeoff with the autopilot on so it certainly won't stop the climb at 100 feet, and the pilot won't either. You takeoff manually and by the time you turn on the autopilot you are at least 500 feet above the ground. Then the plane will spool down, level off and make some unusual sounds and any pilot will look at the FCDU first thing.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

True, and valid points. Thanks

I never owned FSLabs as I was in a period of flight simming where I stopped caring for P3D and was bored out of my mind. I am a Boeing dude so all these little things in the Airbus always get me and what you posted here helped me stop having AP disconnect issues. I must have been doing things out of sequence, including not leveling up a bit. Thanks David.
