FS Flight Keeper

Guest MatthewM

Greetings,I was wondering if anyone has any information on the status of FS Flight Keeper. The authors blog hasn't been updated since Oct 06, and his support forum seems to be non-functional. It'd be a real shame if FS Flight Keeper isn't going to be ported to FSX. I can't imagine not using it. Thanks,-Matt

Hi Matt,I've got some good news for you. Pete Dowson is a good friend of mine and when I mentioned that FSFK doesn't work with FSX via FSUIPC4 he expressed surprise that it didn't.After some detective work he discovered that a small change to FSUIPC would overcome the problem. I've tried one flight in FSX with it and I'm pleased to report it looks good.Pete will be releasing a modified version of FSUIPC probably by the weekend on his usual site.As for FS Flight Keeper v3 I believe Thomas is very busy with work but when time permits he will continue development. He last replied to a message in early May so his forum is certainly still working. In the meantime Pete's good work means we can enjoy FSFK v2 with FSX.Cheers,

Pete has gone on holiday for a week or so but I noticed in another thread a link to FSUIPC4 v4.12 which may contain the fix.See if this works. I'm at work and my employer's restrictions don't allow me to download the file.http://fsuipc.simflight.com/beta/Install_FSUIPC4_412.zipCheers,

Good deal, from the post on Pete's forum about v4.12. FSFK fix was # 1.FSUIPC4 version 4.12 This is a full user release, which will also soon be available from http://www.schiratti.com/dowson . http://fsuipc.simflight.com/beta/Install_FSUIPC4_412.zip Version 4.12 includes the following improvements and corrections over 4.11: 1. The protocol for reading the flight path via offset 0FF0 and those following was implemented in FSUIPC4 following exactly the documented way of using it. However, it seems some programs used a slightly different method which still worked on FSUPC3, but could lead to an everlasting loop when used with FSUIPC4. One such program is FS FlightKeeper (version 2.80 tested). In this updated version, FSUIPC4 simulates this variant so that it will now work correctly with such programs.

Some news on FSFK compatibility with FSX. After I posted the news on Thomas Molitor's site he pointed out that the ACARS gauge is NOT compatible with FSX.So whilst the basic functions of the program will work okay some elements will not work. Thomas has other committments in his life at present and progress on v3 will be slower than anticipated but at least for now FSX users can enjoy many features of FSFK v2.8.Cheers,
