Incompatible addons/mods with SU10 Beta

Recommended Posts

Here is TenPatrol's workaround.
Although a bit scary, it is perfectly harmless.

1 Go to community folder and delete folder named aig-aitraffic-oci-beta_CVT_

2 Go to c:\Users\YourUserNAme\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe
open folder named LocalCache
delete folder $PC$

3 open folder SceneryIndexes - delete all files

4 go to AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe*LocalState\cache*
delete all folders

5 go to AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe*LocalState\DCE*
delete all folders

Launch MSFS and fly safe.

That seems very likely.

content.xml now isn't used (at least for scenery) unless you manually move something in the new Reorder Tool at which point it now just stores a line saying what was moved and where. This has some consequences though as it appears that a) there's no obvious way to disable content in the same way you could before with the active flag and b) if you delete you content.xml it doesn't get recreated as before BUT it seems the content.xml file WAS still being used to control the order of non-scenery files and if it's gone there's no easy way to recreate it and MSFS will just load content in the order it feel like (presumably alphabetically) - this isn't ALL bad though because with no content.xml filer it's messed up how the Marketplace version (0.12.2) of the G1000 and the new Core version (1.0.1) of the G1000 load on my system such that all my G1000 using aircraft including 3rd party ones are now using the new Core version.

Hello ! I may have done a bad move... I deleted the content.xml before updating to the Beta. As you mentioned MSFS dosen't recreate the file on each start. So I'm in a situation where I don't have a content.xml file whatsoever. I'm not sure it is a problem reading your post. Could you clarify please, my understanding of the whole mechanic is poor.

Thanks for the help.

I think you are wrong in thinking that MSFS does not recreate content.xml on every start. I use add-on Linker and have it set up to delete content.xml every time addon Linker is run. Here is a link to a conversation in March on the subject. (if I can add it properly) - link ,you might see something familiar.

in SU10 the content XML is only created if you alter the load order in-sim, and even then it only lists the addons you moved.

Update from the AIG Discord, Asobo has narrowed down the CTD problem and is working on a fix.

Well.. I certainly missed that change in SU10 Beta. Must be something to that idiom, "you can't teach an old dog new tricks". I wonder what brought on the need for them to do that?

The patch notes don't say

"A new package ordering system is also available on PC via the Experimental option menu in game."

You might be able to make a thread in the Beta section asking why.

They probably have to update it to support the built in NXI.

Here’s hoping!

It looks like they finally fixed the bush trips in SU10

Thanks for your input. I'm still not sure if not having a CONTENT.XML at all on the first start of SU10 is trouble...

In doubt, I created a dummy...

I had so much CTD for unclear reason, I renamed my Community folder to let MSFS create a new one as well.

Bit late to the party but noticed last night that once again, Dublin seems to create CTDs - brought on by just loading a flight from the main menu.

I did have MK's offering working fine up until installing SU10 after finding a duplicate file name , but alas, no longer.

Btw, this happens with both the MK and the default EIDW.

Can only be generated via experimental features in SU10 beta with a different layout and purpose, if you delete the "content.xml", MSFS won't generate a new one as was the case before SU10 beta!

So what is the danger of this?  If there isn't a context.xml on start up, will it create a problem?

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.
