Is DLSS something Beta users can enable in the sim, or is this a Nvidia driver thing ?

It is a option in the beta only. You enable it under antialiasing option. Instead of selecting TAA for antialiasing you would select one of the DLSS options (quality. Performance, etc).

I'm using DLSS set on balanced and the AMD sharpening thingy on 120. Very, very nice for me (locked at 30fps)

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700F CPU @ 2.90GHz (8 cores) Hyper on, Evga RTX 3060 12 Gig, 32 GB ram, Windows 11, P3D v6, and MSFS 2020 and a couple of SSD's

See a few people mention artifacts but I'm on a 1080 Ti with 11GB of VRAM and haven't seen a single artifact. Could it be driver related or perhaps a certain setting causing it with the 3xxx cards?

Yes have to test more maybe the 1gb is just the difference. Maybe going to revert one driver back I'm on the latest...

DX11 and TAA

I really want to use DX12 but I am getting the artifacts with it because of VRAM even with my 10GB RTX3080. I can see that they are moving in the right direction with DX12 but at least on my hardware and my settings, it is not good enough for me to switch. I know that it looks like people are reducing from Ultra Settings to High Settings with good results, but I do not want to sacrifice visuals at this point.

As for DLSS I did not see enough improvement because I am not GPU limited and the only thing I fly is tube liners and the ghosting and blurry textures on the screens again are not worth it for me.

That's worrisome, as it suggests that the VRAM demands are very high.  Has anyone with a 12GB 3080 had good results, or do you need to go all the way to a 3090?

I agree...I thought with 10GB I would be "OK" but not at all...Not everyone is going to be able to have a 3090...I swear this hobby can but frustrating sometimes

I have a 12GB 3080ti and lost 5 fps (vs dx11) at ksea when using 14GB of vram. I gained 10 fps at Kord using 10GB. TLOD 400, 4k.

DX12 and DLSS on a 3090. A whole new experience.

Can you comment on this? Im not in the BETA and its importantn to me.

For me the indicated air speed and wind speed are blurry when they flucate a lot. Really starting to bother me. About ready to go back to TAA. every thing else in the g1000nxi looks the same.

Maybe I’m being obtuse, but…"AMD sharpening thingy" on an RTX 3060?

I know, the name is deceiving, but it appears to help with some of the fuzziness of DLSS. I ran into a post somewhere that suggested to try it.

Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700F CPU @ 2.90GHz (8 cores) Hyper on, Evga RTX 3060 12 Gig, 32 GB ram, Windows 11, P3D v6, and MSFS 2020 and a couple of SSD's

8GB of video RAM will run DX12 perfectly well in MSFS. I have a seven-year-old Nvidia 1070 (with 8GB) and run the sim at 2K with most settings on High and a few on Ultra. I get 30fps locked. It's only with unrealistic settings that you get into trouble with video RAM. The most "liked" comment I ever posted here on Avsim was several months ago, when I argued that it's almost invariably the simmers with super high-end systems who do all the complaining about performance. Here's a link to the comment, but do keep in mind that this was intended as lighthearted comedy:

I see a "DLAA" option, no "DLSS"

For me this  SU10 beta has been a big nothing burger.

Most importantly ghosting artifacts still appear in DLSS quality / DX12 like light poles, antennas, or AI aircraft against a cloudy back drop just like DX11 TAA..  So I really don't see any improvements..

Many speculated that DX 12 would improve or eliminate the ghosting and would improve screen space reflections and help with blocky cubemap reflections, none of that has come true.

Also, they totally ignored simple things like the ATC calling ups microsoft phonem whind is still not fixed.  AI airplanes still spin when waiting... It can't be that hard to fix.

It does but the extent of it depends on the resolution and screen size (starting pixel density).

On a 27" monitor @ 1080p, if you add DLSS small fonts will certainly appear blurred.

On a 28" monitor @ 4K you won't notice it.

I am in the middle (34" @ 3440x1440) and the blurriness on the gauges is barely noticeable. It's a matter of preference and compromise, there's no "one size fits all".

On the other hand in my opinion DLSS AI does a good job to reconstruct distant objects such as wind turbines, radio towers and windsocks.

A couple of examples. The original screenshots are 9 MB PNGs.

Here the wind turbines are barely rendered in the TAA screenshot while they are well visible at the same distance in the DLSS one.

The second image is a 500% zoomed portion of a screenshot. Besides the better representation of the radar tower you can see that the TAA even produces artifacts (much darker pixels in the lower part of the image, that DLSS prevents.

You need an nVidia RTX card, it doesn't work with GTX and AMD cards.
